  1. so what yer say'in is dazzle em with brilliance, if that don't work then baffle em with bull feathers?
  2. hi there donmarkey, i really like what you've done with the floor plate. i think i'll give that project a try if you don't mind me using your design. Dave
  3. I like the way itlookse you've answered my poser about the release pin. I suppose I could braze the hole shut then smooth it out. would the release lever look good in brass or stainlee steel? Dave
  4. YI think it would work great for a laminated stock as I have 2 of them, the feathering should really cool! Dave
  5. SS I'm going to my shop tomorrow to work on my daughter's truck, work a little on our taurus, then I'm pulling down my vz24 to build another wildercat. I'm thinking of a 8mm/08. Just for the fun of it. As for northern Ca, I'm east of the bay area and almost on your back door. Dave email me ok. see my profile.
  6. Say, SS, I was thinking that if you have a locking ball that is spring loaded, like what holds sockets onto your ratchet, wouldn't it also hold the barrel from moving once it's locked? Dave
  7. Question, Does the release pin still work the same? I mean if you push the pin in does the floorplate drop down? I've never seen this done before ,this is why I ask! Dave
  8. If that's the way it was in 2006 ,can't wait to see what we are going to to wear in 2010. Dave
  9. FC Have you ever used an air brush with stain to do a stock? I think you could do great overlays and feathering with it. I have an oilless compressor with the airbrush guns This type doesn't produce moisture to ruin the stock. What do you think about this idea? Dave
  10. FC If the OEM barrels have a different degree of pitch, then how come the aftermarket doesn't do the same? Is there a reason they do it that way? Dave
  11. Hey out there. Where would you get a 9.3x62 barrel, reamer etc.? Is a 9.3x62 equal or close to a 9.3/06 wildcat? I have never seen one let a lone shoot one. How would a 9.3x62 go against a 35 whelen. Dave
  12. Hey FC! I've never heard it put quit that way but it is true. I like your version better. Later, Dave
  13. Tinker, I usually take my large ring tap to the action first, then use the die for large ring on the barrel. they usually go on pretty easy then. I had earlier in the day came up on that same problem with a used LR barrel to go into a yugo m24 action the die did the trick. If you don't have them and want to borrow mine, drop me an email. It;s in my profle. Dave
  14. az some folks have all theluck and fun. There are always pros and cons to everything though. I gotta go and make some money for someone else , my cut is small but it is better than nothing. Later ya'll. DAVE
  15. I've only been in Texas once. You haven't sent any of these to the guys of blue collar tour have you, these are great, rolled on the floor for a half hour. Thanks for the uplift! Dave
  16. FC that looks like lots of funs . But my boss gave me a question to ask you fellas. If an asp in the grass is called a snake, then why is a grasp of an asp called a goose? Dave
  17. Kingsman, I have several M98 Turks with small ring barrels. I rechambered one of them to a 8mm/06. When I use 180gr noslers or longer , I either had to recess the bullet deaper in the case or blow out the box. I opted to blow out the box as I also use 220gr Hornadays. How ever if I use 150's, Ihave no problem with C.O.L. Dave
  18. I have to say this==Slseacrist- That is one sweet 220 Swift. You make my projects look like a 5th grader made them. My only consolation is that they are VERY functional. EXCELLANT work. I'ld be afraid to take that one out of the house. LOTS OF CONGRATS man. DAVE
  19. Hey Slseacrist, I got my gears turning on another way to make a break down M98. I just wished I could draw. I couldn't draw 2 straight if I taped the pencils together. We have a scanner up here with our computer. Mabe I could get my daughter to make some drawings, then scan them then post 'em. What do ya think? Dave Can't hurt!
  20. Hey Fritz, What really chaps my seatcover is when we lose 1 solder in Iraq, they make it sound like we lost a whole platoon. During the Viet Nam war I never saw the people doing that. How about when we would loose 40 to 50 at one time. Who was crying then. The individual parent of the solder wasn't allowed to protest on t.v. I should know cause I was in the military during that war. Dave
  21. !!!!!!!!!!!!!RIGHT ON MY MAN!!!!!!!!!!! I DO believe you have hit the nail on the head. Like the old saying goes==IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOUR BIG BUTT WHEN YOU LEAVE. I hope I Didn't offend anybody, BUT this was my opion. Dave
  22. SS I've made a semi take down M98 by taking large washers big enough to fit on the barrel 1/2" from the receiver. Then I mig welded it to the barrel ,ground it square on both sides and made a open end wrench to fit it. I use the action wrench too. I am then able to swap out barrels at the range. 300win mag, 8mm/300win mag, with another bolt I'm also able to use my 8mm/06 barrel . It works pretty good for me. Dave P.S. I don't have a digital camera or I would take pics to show ya.
  23. I'm almost finished with my mauser rifles, I'ld be interested in gewtting some insight on which B.P. rifle and equipment to consider. I've been looking at the Hawkins ball and cap at Cabelas. Could you guys clue me in on which way to go? Dave
  24. Say jimro-- I think that ailment is very catching. Everytime I get on the Snapon tool truck I seem to find an assortment of stray tools following me back to the shop AND they just hop into my toolbox. I have no idea how they got there. I seem to have crs desease or something. Ha! Do you have that illness also?
  25. Thanks guys, After they are fireformed to that chamber they will ONLY cbe neck sized as it is a wildcat . The 300 win mag barrel that goes on the same action is set with go/no-go guages so if need be I can use factory ammo. The 8mm/300will be using only the brass mentioned beforehand. I have pleny of those. Dave
