  1. yeah we had a long box under the tree but was'nt fer me. It was for the wife. A long kitty massager for her feet. I did get a 8gig mp3 player from tanya though. Happy days to all, all around. May the next year be better. Merry Xmas all Dave.
  2. hi jim, never seen one done like that before. Looks interestin' though. what counts is when it does the job at hand. I bought mine from midway. my barrel vise is the split blocks of wood between 2 steel plate in a vise. works for me. I just might try to copy your design to build one for my father in law, if you don't mind. looks cool. Dave
  3. A very special merry xmas and thanks for our house to all of you here a MFRC. This is a special group of friends that I will always remember. God bless all of you, and god bless Fritz and his family. I will miss him. Dave
  4. My condolences to the family. I will miss him. Had plans to visit next summer ,He will be missed by all. Dave in Cal.
  5. hey mauser dude. I took a cobalt bit and reamed the neck of a 30 cal sizer die to .341 " then took a 308 cart that was opened up to .358" OD then neck sized it thru the modified die. It was resized to .341" OD w/ a .315"ID. when I pulled a 8mm expander thru it ,the ID was then .318''. The 8mm bullet had a .005'' neck tension against it. The bullet was very snug. Next step in this wildcat endeaver is to shorten the barrel by .275" then rechamber to .308" cart size. Should be out load testing by new years Day. I'llpost pics of the finished prject soon. Dave
  6. As for the peein' of the pants, if the wind blows it can get mighty cold down south of your border.!!!!
  7. Good job my man,It looks good, now go out an' shoot it an' have some fun. Dave
  8. Hi guy, Never got the chance to shoot one of them yet. I do however cast lyman's 31140 170gr flat nose for our 30-30s and the 300 winny. I just load em' at the starting rec. They have been loaded for my bosses' 30-06 also. They're great for just target shooting. Heat em' up an' yer good to go huntin' also. This is just my opinion on the huntin' part. I sent 500 rds to a buddy in alaska, he uses them for huntin'. Dave
  9. It's still there. I was just on it. They exceeded their bandwidth. too much stuff I guess. I've noticed that there is alot of military folk on these sites. I think that it's great. Just my .035 worth. Dave
  10. hi az, If it were me, I would use silversolder 'cause it would take more heat from constant firin' to melt it. It also takes more heat to solder it. Rosin core solder requires very little heat to melt. It's used for electrical pcb's wires etc.If you're not generating more than 350degs constantly any ofthe solder you mentioned will work. Like stated earlier, I would use the silver solder as my first choice. Just my .035 worth, Dave
  11. hi all, just went on midway's site...Holy cow, the 8-06 RCBS set was almost 67 bucks. Glad I got mine when they were only 30 bucks. Dave
  12. hi spiris, good price for the dies. the shipping is high though. already got a set, could always use a spare though. thanks.
  13. I agree with ya Fritz, good call!!!! Dave
  14. Hi MD, Thanks for the vote of confidence. I only, like you shoot 125 hdys and 150's in my 8x57. the 180,200, 220, and 250's I shoot in my 8-06 an' 8-300 mag. I'm going to ,this weekend to make the reamers for the 8-08. I'll try to have my wife take pics of the process in makeing the reamers. I use 2 different reamers to do the barrel, like I did the 8-300. My bed is callin' me , so later . Dave Ps. In all my load books, the 8x57 can equal or out run a 308 if loaded to european loads.
  15. hey MD, got my reamers an' gettin a wild hair 'bout buildin' an 8mm-08. Got extra 8x57 fz dies, extra 8x57 lr barrel. gonna get workin' on it an'see what shows up on my bench. I'll keep ya informed of any progress or dissipointments, OK? BTW, the 8mm06 w/220gr hdy sp's are a definate mule w/ full load. 'course it will get the job done for sure. As for the intermediate actions, I could'nt say cause I don't have any, just k.kales vz24s an'yugo m98 size actions. I only load my bullets 1/4 " in the neck like thee germans did so I opened up my box an' the ramp was modified. Works for me. Later Dude, Dave
  16. M.D. I do have a 8mm-06, it's a very accurate rifle. I can throw a 220 gr hdy sp out @ 2650 to 2725 depending on my load. O'course I'm using a k.kale w/ 29" barrel. I love it throwing 180gr nosler btbt's @ 2900 max load. But it is a shoulder kicker for sure. It's my go to gun for everything from yotes to elk etc. Just my .035 worth. Dave
  17. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology...aw/4231942.html hey guys and gals, did ya see this?
  18. Well now, I'm listenin'. Had that same idea about 2 years ago. I too think it would be a cool cal to have...7-08, 308, 338 fed, why not a 8-08. Works for me. Gonna check out my reamers an see what I come up with . My boss gave me about 35 reamers rangein' from 1/4" to 3/4 " Keep us posted on your idea. Dave
  19. check w/ lyman cast load book if you can ,they have an assortment of load data for alot of rifles. I'll look in mine an post some data for you. If you want you can email me also... Dave

If I wanna make um sweet or semi sweet ,that's my business. That's my story an' I'm a stickin' to it. AAAARRR!!!!. Dave
  23. Ditto from our house. Got our flag up. As a fact it's rain or shine, our flag flies 24/7 out on my patio. Sorry, only had air force an' navy but I salute them allHave a good one.
  24. hi fritz. I use a 1.25pwr otc.glasses for my long distance seeing. Use a 2.25pwr for 4ft or closer. Prescript glasses ,they want to do bifocals. Can't see #$%% under the hood w/ them I just use otc glasses too. works for me. Just my .035, Dave
