  1. Man, I knew I should have gotten over myself enough to purchase a PA63 a couple of years ago when they were cheap! I always thought they'd be a fun pistol to have around, but as I reside in CA I have refused to purchase pistols here because of the restrictive legal stuff, having to get an HSC when I got the BFSC a few years ago and it was supposed to be good for 10 years, and assorted other joys. Then again, I guess there's a reason I didn't jump through the hoops. It's good to know that these pistols are (in some cases) reliable and capable...at least capable of frightening off a potential robber or two! And in the Makarov caliber...what more could one ask for? Ah well, I guess if I need one badly enough, I will get one when I move from CA...as long as they aren't $400.00 by that time!
  2. I really wish I hadn't viewed that after I had eaten...the sight of the refrigerator and the bathroom sink made my stomach lurch.... But there's a bright side...I don't think I will ever again think that my house is a mess!
  3. Thanks, FC...it's nice to be seen! I have been posting all over your nice, new board, LOL! I really like the ease of use...not because I am as dumb as some might think, but because it's just more enjoyable to be able to post with some convenient tools at one's disposal rather than having to adapt to things that never seemed to work right (like the ezboard stuff). One thing that I really like is the member number dealie...it makes it abundantly clear where folks have come in on the board...not that it matters of course, but I used to find it hard to recollect when exactly it was that I had joined other boards, without going and looking for it. Are you happy with this board thus far, FC and Admins?
  4. Gothmog -- That is one seriously beautiful Enfield! I am envious, I want a Longbranch too. My only Enfield, aside from the converted/sporterized .410 is my No. 4, Mk I...of the Indian variety. It was one nasty piece when I got it a few years back, since then, I have done all the restorative things I could think of, and have a fairly lovely gun now...but then again, what I did would definitely NOT endear me to purists. I'll see if I can find a picture of it both before and after.... Your rifle is incredible though! The stock is just gorgeous! OK...here's a sample of mine.... And this one I like even though it doesn't reveal much, because outside in the sun, the warmth of the wood is evident....
  5. Ooo, cool, ShooterTom.... I should get into snakes too...I need a new purse and some shoes! Just kidding! I really actually do like snakes, though probably not as much as y'all do! Some friends of mine used to raise boa constrictors, and I enjoyed handling, and particularly feeding them! Non-poisonous snakes are my favorites...if confronted with a poisonous snake, one of us is going to have to die! Thankfully, in my experiences with poisonous snakes they will usually go away before I have to deal with them...they don't want to see me any more than I want to see them! Your pythons are quite lovely...particularly the young female...but they both look well-loved and healthy!
  6. I like my M38 Mosin-Nagant better than the others (but don't tell them!), even my antique Finnish M39 isn't as fun...actually my M39 is sort of painful to shoot, whereas the carbines seem milder. That's the exact opposite of what I had read about these guns before acquiring a variety of them! The only major variant of the Mosin-Nagant family that I don't have yet is the 91/59, so I am probably jumping the gun here about which I like the best. I am not all that fanatical about M-Ns, though I do like them very much...I just don't feel the need to have every single version that was ever produced, but I am amazed by the zeal with which other people collect these firearms! Let's see, the numbers...I have 1 POS Russian M44 that shoots great, I have 1 beautiful Romanian M44 that shoots better than the Russian, I have a Russian 91/30, a Russian M38 and the Finnish M39...so I just have 5 currently, though, I want to get one of the highly touted Polish M44s at some point, just because I have heard that these are the best of the M44s where fit and finish are concerned.
  7. Frankly, I am impressed that FC dumped ezboard...there are some others doing so, but I think some are just sucking it up figuring that lightning isn't going to strike twice. I like the way this board looks, it's very nice and clean, it seems to have more in the way of functionality as well. Good choice, FC as well as a truly smart move! I am happy to be a member here with all of you fine folks!
