  1. best of luck to this ballsy gal! the mexicans need to get their s#!t together... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41904784/ns/world_news-americas/?GT1=43001
  2. wear from overzealous cleaning. can you drop a 7mm bullet down the muzzle?
  3. not to diminish the role of unions, but california also has massive wellfare and illegal problems (as well as illegals on wellfare...)
  4. kid just stole my dad's Colt King Cobra .357 a couple of weeks ago. we figure he ditched it before getting checked out by the cops. he hasnt been arrested yet (he's in hiding). dads neighbor saw an odd car coming down dad's driveway, stopped him and asked him what he was doing. kid had 14 miles to pitch it out the window. never thought it would happen, but it did...
  5. well karl, they've been working HARD! trillions of dollars don't spend themselves! (actually, with the congressmen and senators we have now, they probably DO!)
  6. seriously? how freakin dumb do you have to be?
  7. why do you say that, kenny? what are you seeing?
  8. i've only seen a bit of FLying Wild. it didn't really hold my attention. GOld Rush, well, what can a sane person say but WTF?! Those have to be the most unqualified humans on the planet! what a bunch of maroons! or may morans! the amount of time and money they wasted is criminal! they'd have been better off just panning the creek bed. if they have ONE MORE meeting about some retarded crap, my God, they should be sent packing! The claim owner should give them the boot, and fast, before they destroy the whole claim. i like how they rely on the morphine addict to 'fix' all they junk, but when someone with actual experience shows up, he gets majorly bent out of shape. it's like a train wreck. i don't wanna watch, but cant look away!

    Action Screw Questions

can't remember if 93-96 are the same as 98s, but locking screws have a set screw to prevent them from backing out. like this... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3291/3144616317_94004ea1d7_z.jpg%3Fzz%3D1&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/dingo48/3144616317/&usg=__iKSKe8xLZHjuxW_yJKlz5Yx1FBM=&h=280&w=640&sz=50&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=g5uYXC9PuhmPkM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=205&ei=rylITaapH4PGlQf3pd2dBA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmauser%2Blocking%2Bscrews%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3D8AJ%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D751%26tbs%3Disch:1%26prmd%3Divns0%2C12&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=101&vpy=512&dur=299&hovh=148&hovw=340&tx=184&ty=142&oei=rylITaapH4PGlQf3pd2dBA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:16,s:0&biw=1280&bih=751
  10. the 7mm and 8mm cases are basically the same, save the bullet diameter. any mauser chambered for 8mm will be a slam dunk for a 7mm conversion. As for what action to buy, i'd suggest a 1898 like you said, but from there things get interesting. there are still some russian captured 98s out there, but the prices are rising. VZ24's are still out there, but the same with the RC's, they're not cheap. then you have the intermediates, which are great actions, but the stock choices are not quite as plentiful as a standard 98. if possible, do you have someone who knows mausers that can accompany you so you get what you need? my other suggestion would be to purchase one on the internet. finding one on gun broker or a private website would allow you to post it here and ask questions so you're assured you get what you want. my .02. heath
  11. i've got two of the 93 hinged guards. if you're going to have a stock run on your own piece of wood, maybe you can get a rough cut of the duplicators pattern and bondo the bottom metal in so you get a good match on your finished stock. that's what i did.
  12. i thought i saw intermediate bolts at numrich, too. just the other day, in fact.
  13. just about anything can be done... http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9411043/m/5761055541
  14. you gotta watch the trigger. if you're using the issue trigger, you might be alright just shortening it, but an aftermarket, well, you have the trigger body to deal with.

    Update:

you've had an 'interesting' couple of years! best of luck!
  16. someone had a side safety trigger on there at one time. see the red paint on the right side of the tang? might still be remnants of it in there. what's wrong with leaving it 6.5x55? great caliber.
  17. i assume you reload, what with wanting an 8mm/06. any reason for this wildcat over the 8x57? If i remember correctly, the 8/06 is only marginally faster than the 8x57, and i'm betting an animal wouldn't be able to discern the difference. If you are planning to use the issue barrel, i'd inspect it REALLY WELL. it cost the same to install a used barrel as a new one (generally). If you want the issue sights to line up, the gunsmith with have time in setting the barrel back and timing the sights, and a new barrel will probably need chucked in the lathe for something (figuring a prethreaded barrel). make SURE the barrel is in GREAT condition if you go with the old one. it could be chucked up and the tooling marks removed, but that will add cost and not make it shoot any better. the rest of your list are all good suggestions. as to what order, well, i usually do things in the wrong order, so i'm probably not the best to ask... good luck!
  18. Clemson, i believe this is a Springfield project, with a mauser reference. "I've got an 03-A3 project on my bench..."
  19. brad, i committed to buying the gun. the seller took pics of it out of the stock and it's perfect. i'll see what i can do with the aluminum TG when it gets here.
  20. I agree! why is it anybodies business who you sleep with at home?
  21. i'm with roscoedoh. if they want to serve, let them serve! do you think gays aren't already in the military? repealing DADT wont change that...
  22. what on earth happened to that poor, poor gun?!
  23. ok fellas, who's used the aluminum trigger guard with the cast antelope from sporter express and the like? i know it's no sunny hill or some such, but is it a usable piece? i'm thinkin' a guy could make a new floorplate to get rid of the antelope, if he so desired... also, i am going to buy (pending inspection under the woodline for rust) a belgium FN mauser and it looks like it wears an original aluminum trigger guard (sans antelope) and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? it's an 06 with a beat factory stock, but the parts look worth the $300 price. heath

    Shipping Law

problem is, the guy behind the desk at the post office might not know his butt from a hole in the ground. were it me, i'd contact the buyers ffl and ask if they accept from private citizens. if he says, 'sure', send the gun marked machined parts.
