  1. It must be Karl's fault. Curiosity got the best of me today. There were a bunch of fighter jets flying directly over my house and about a 1/4 mile east they banked right and headed back toward Luke AFB. After watching a huge and I do mean huge low flying prop plane bank right. Then out of nowhere two fighters pulled right up on its ass. I have a mountain apx a 1/4 east and I guess they were probably using it as a land marker. I also noticed commercial airlines flying into Sky Harbor were approaching from the east, normally from the west. I also watched a couple of low flying fighters play for the lack of a better phrase, cat and mouse. One would fly over head a bit slow then another came screaming in out of nowhere. The slow poke surprisingly turned on his after burners flying away like a bat out of hell. I just had to know what was going on as Luke air traffic rarely flies over the city. A woman answering the phone as LT XX. Said this is Marine week. Marines train and fly at lower levels than A/F and Navy. I asked why they weren't using Yuma, an Arizona Marine air base just north of the Mexican border instead of the Phoenix metro area. I got dead silence and no response. My guess the reason for no answer. If the fighters flew aggressively near the border. The Mexican govt would get their panties in a bunch. I didn't insist on an answer because I knew the gal might get into trouble. Years ago according to local news reports. An A/F officer got a demotion and a civilian employee got the boot. It was during the so-called Lights Over Phoenix situation. Luke sent fighters to intercept but denied doing so. The two apparently told phone callers while the lights were still visible. Jets were being scrambled but didn't know why. The next day in a news release Luke denied any planes taking off. Anyhow if Karl can assure me his buds will do another show. I'll be spending time in the back yard tomorrow. I tried to take some cell phone pics but they didn't turn out. I'll bring my camera tomorrow. In my imagination but I bet the Marine pilot yelled out a very loud OOOOO RAH as he fired up the after burners. Karl see if you can put in a good word for me and have the fighters fly a bit lower tomorrow.
