Extractor For Yugo 24/47

I'm sure this is a topic that's been discussed at length so allow me to apologize ahead of time.

I paid 100 bucks a 24/47 Yugo a few months back, that had a cracked stock and missing extractor. The action, bolt body and related parts are in great shape, as is the barrel. That being said I feel this rifle is begging to be sporterized. Can anyone tell me where I can find an extractor and collar for it, or is there another Mauser type that'll fit it.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't the Yugo action slightly shorter than the standard 98?? I'm assuming if the action is shorter, the bolt and extractor may also be a hair short.

Just a suggestion. If you're going to be removing the extractor collar, you might want to order one along with the extractor. Possibly it is my rough handling and not having the correct tool to remove it. Seems like I have a bad habit of breaking the collars trying to remove them.

The tool to remove them looks like its no more than a pair of snap ring pliers, although I'm quite sure it isnt. I'm picky enough that I was going to buy a new one regardless, thats why I was asking where i can find em. Every place I've looked has been sold out or doesnt carry them for the 24/47.

The recevier, bolt, firing pin, and tiggerguard/magazine are shorter than a standard 98 Mauser. However, almost all the rest of the parts, including the extractor, the extractor collar, and the streamline commercial bolt shroud, are the same and will interchange. Sometimes you can get lucky and find new commercial ones for use when sporterizing your Mauser.

Good stuff, I appreciate the info. I'll order the parts for the bolt, and when they get in Ill run everything to the gunsmith to have headspace checked and get a professional opinion on barrel condition
