ken98k
In January I bought a used 1860 clone. It only says 'Made in Italy' on the bottom of the barrel but, I thought it was made by Pietta. Shortly after I acquired it, the spring broke off the hand. No problem, I ordered a new one (hand) from VTI Gun Parts. However, when it arrived it was quite a bit larger than the original. My next step was to order another, this time from Taylors. When it arrived this part was too large also. What's going on? http://vtigunparts.com/store/shopcontent.asp?type=home http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/ broken part on left, 2 over sized parts on right. Dr.Hess
I don't know about those guns, but it looks like either a change in design or a different manufacturer. There may have been multiple Italian firms making those over the decades. Now, can you pull the spring from one of the new ones and install it on the old one? You might have to modify the old hand thingie to get the new spring to fit, but if it's broken already, I'd give it a try.
karlunity
I have the 1860 pietta and the broken spring does NOT match the one in my revolver. So I suggest that you: look carefully on the gun to see who made it. Pietta has had several changes over the years if it is a Pietta. Go by the # I think that it is on the front of the trigger guard for the year made. If you brought the gun at a show, you could have a Pietta barrel on someone else's frame. karl
wiley
I've had some good luck with VTI, I wonder if you could email them that pic and find out if they recognize your part? It appears that the pivot pin is a different diameter, too

Anyone looking for a Pietta 1860 hand and spring?

Anyone looking for a Pietta 1860 hand and spring? Do a bit of net surfing. There is a Single Action forum out there where you might find a buyer. karlunity
I think that Doc Hess is on to it. De solder the old broken spring and replace it with one from the hand. karl
