tinkerfive
Is there a "cold blue" equivilant to allow one to 'touch up' Parkerizing?
manureman
Howdy tinker, not to say it aint out there cause it sure may be but I've not seen it,I've got a buddy thats mean mad and crazy about parkerizing, and I've seen him use cold blue on some parked stuff if it was just a sharp edge on something that had worn down to bare metal,I've also seen him use some of the bake on finishes over parkerizing with very good results and he will some times give a fresh parked gun a light coat of good flat black spraypaint to even out the color as parts made of different metals will come out of his park tank different shades.Probably didn't help a bit but maybe it'll give you an idea. beanstrung
Birchwood-Casey Presto-Black PC-9. It's an industrial-grade cold black-oxide treatment. I ordered a quart thru a local machine shop. It comes as a concentrate, and needs to be diluted 1 part concentrate plus 9 parts water before using. It works just like cold-blue (ie. clean & prep, apply treatment, let work, rinse with water, re-apply if necessary, rinse again, then coat the treated area with a light oil or grease. The resulting finish is more of a flat-black than the shinier blue-black of Perma-Blue. http://www.sculpt.com/technotes/Tech_Sheet...o_Black_PC9.pdf http://www.birchwoodcasey.com/presto/index.html
