Horsefly
I caught half of a show on the Fu-Go fire bomb balloons Japan sent our way in 1944-45. One of the most interesting things I’ve seen in a long time. I think it said between 4500 to 6000 we’re sent. Some were fire bombs to start forest fires and some were explosion bombs. I’ve heard all my life about the balloons but the real story has just been declassified. Some made it to Texas. The media was told not to report on the balloons so Japanese wouldn’t know if they were successful.
FC
I didn't hear about the one making it to TX. Yeah, pretty ingenious device.

AzRednek
Late 50 or early 60s my Boy Scout troop got a lecture and slide presentation about the balloons. It was basically don’t touch, don’t take pictures, leave area ASAP, tell your scoutmaster and report to police, forest ranger, fireman etc. Far as I know there were never any found in Arizona.
