Dr.Hess
We used to have that for a breakfast occasionally when I was a kid. And Dad would sometimes take us to the DAV (I think, might have been VFW) in the mornings on a weekend where they would have it. Never saw so many adults drunk at 8 in the morning. Now, my wife makes something similar but without the beef, of course. She uses a veggie meat substitute.
FC
They had it in the Air Force, when I was enlisted, but I never chose to eat it. It may have been sausage and gravy, but the troops called it SOS. Looks awful!
Dr.Hess
Dad was in the Coast Guard. I'm quite sure they had it. I seem to recall him cooking it for breakfast when mom was away visiting relatives. It is basically white ('cream') gravy with meat (or meat substitute if you're vegetarian) added.
