Horsefly
Several years ago someone posted pics. of a Jerry-rigged fixture to spin a barrel on drill press for filing out the steps I think. I have a pitted barrel I’d like to save same way. Just wondering if anyone remembers the post ? A cousin and my brother have lathes but not big enough. Dr.Hess
I don't recall that. However, if I was to try that, I would put a live center in the vice, drop the table down, put the barrel breech on top of the live center, raise the table to grab the muzzle with the drill chuck (if it will open that far) and put the press on the slowest speed. Without a live center, if you had some other way to secure the far end and not damage anything from spinning for quite a while, that would work. A dead center with lots of grease and keep a close eye on it might work.
Horsefly
That sounds just like what I remembered. Live center is part I’m trying to figure out.
