karlunity
JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia Former Vice President Al Gore told a mainly Saudi audience on Sunday that the U.S. government committed "terrible abuses" against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment. Gore said Arabs had been "indiscriminately rounded up" and held in "unforgivable" conditions. The former vice president said the Bush administration was playing into al-Qaida's hands by routinely blocking Saudi visa applications. "The thoughtless way in which visas are now handled, that is a mistake," Gore said during the Jiddah Economic Forum. "The worst thing we can possibly do is to cut off the channels of friendship and mutual understanding between Saudi Arabia and the United States." Gore told the largely Saudi audience, many of them educated at U.S. universities, that Arabs in the United States had been "indiscriminately rounded up, often on minor charges of overstaying a visa or not having a green card in proper order, and held in conditions that were just unforgivable." Read it and thank God Bush won. Karl

roscoedoh
Tis the general political agenda to play each side off each other until something gives. I think we'd see something similar if Gore were in his second term of office. Politics is politics and politicians are politicians. That said however, it seems to be the general policy of the Democratic party to attack the Republicans, damn the consequences. Its not enough that we were attacked by terrorist, now we have a political party rotting the nation from the inside out. Its scary to think that Gore was almost elected on the "anything but Bush" platform. Kerry got a lot of votes on the same platform. Must we loose sight of the fact that the general tenet of Democratism is the redistribution of wealth to ensure that the rich are never too rich and the poor are never too poor? Since this hasn't worked, they have by God lowered the standards to ensure that the poor are on somewhat equal footing with the rich. All brought to you by the same party that is now leaving our borders to bad mouth our nation. That's a hell of a shot isn't it? To yes, thank God Gore didn't make the cut. I don't think the Republicans did anything under handed to elect Bush although it appeared such was the case for a while. Do I think the Republicans have done the best job possible? No - we'll be paying for this war on terrorism for many years to come. But, it has to be done. Gore be damned. If he is still shouting sour grapes, may he go to hell.
