I am fifty and I missed three, two I did not know and one I gave the name of the song instead of whom it was a tribute to. Guess I should read the whole question before answering. Still, I'm betting that there are many amoung us that will fair far worse than I did on this one. Get my kicks or got my kicks was also a candy bar line that I can't remember the name of. It was a chocalte covered taffy bar with peanuts. The Route 66 part though was easy. My best friend at the time, his older brother used to get paid 30 bucks a day to appear in crowd scenes when they shot parts here in Phoenix. That was a dam good day's pay at the time especially for a someone whose regular job was a door to door magazine subscription salesman. fritz Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 Route 66 was one of my favorite TV shows. Martin Milner, and the other fellow I keep forgetting his name. Milner went on to play a cop, didn't he? But those two guys traveling Route 66 in the Corvette was a classic (car and all). They eventually appeared in every state that the highway passes through. BTW, what ever happened to that highway? Its a shame that alot of the old highways are closeing. My family drove most of 66 in the early 1960s, Ill. to Bakersfield Ca. You saw the country and how people lived on those roads. 1 What was the name of Sky Kings Plane? 2 What was the name of the rock opera by the Who? 3 the name of Roy Rogers ranch was? 4 "What time is it? Why did I think the Melody Ranch was Roy Roger's, could it have been Gene Autry's?? I've driven Route 66 through Arizona. Outside of the spooky part through the mountains the only highlight is very small town called Oatman. In Oatman wild burros come out of the mountains to beg for food from tourists. The population of less than a hundred have names for all the burros and keep them alive to keep the tourists coming and spending their money. So, I will give the answers. 1 Freeman Gosden was the original radio voices on the Amos n Andy radio show. 2 Jack Armstrong was the "All American" boy...(also radio) 3 Barney Google,(with the goo-goo-googly eyes) racing plug was called "Spark Plug" a comic paper strip that spun off "Snuffy Smif". 4 Chester Conklin was cross-eyed! he made many-many silent "shorts" they were always played before the main feature at Saturday matinees. 5 The "Stooges" took all their legal work to the law firm of "Dewey, Cheatum and Howe". 6 Mel Blanc of "Bugs Bunny" fame,was the voice of Jack's old "Maxwell".....his popping and sputtering rendition of an old Flivver car was a highlight of Jack Benny's radio show. I spent many a night sitting in front of an old Crosley radio reading and listening to some of the finest entertainment ever presented, the hours flew by....and the next day every kid in school could recite every joke that was told. Radio......was and is the greatest mass communication media in the world...a shame that it is now wasted on oldie Rock and Roll and talk shows......I would love to hear one more broadcast of the Mercury Mystery Theatre. No, we do care about the quiz, but that is even older than me. I had heard of Barney Google (in fact, my father was a musician and if memory does not fail me) I once saw a sheet music with his name.
