z1r Posted May 26, 2006 Report Share Posted May 26, 2006 The Poles made several types of small ring 98's. Without a pic it is hard to tell. That said, I've found it is best to pull the original barrel before attempting to acquire a replacement for two reasons: First, to eliminate any doubt as to shank size. Second, to inspect the lug seats for pocketing. No sense in buying a barrel if the lug seats are pocketed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

z1r Posted May 26, 2006 Report Share Posted May 26, 2006 Hard to tell from pics but if it's a WWI vinatge pole then it is small ring large thread.. If WWII the I think it is like the G33/40 and small ring small thread. Again, given the variants of mausers out there it is the safest bet to simply pull the bbl before committing to a new barrel.
