fritz
I found a case of this stuff in the vault, from the '90s (when ammo was cheap). I assume that the lettering means---hollow point, lead, steel case, corrosive, berdan. I know I shot some of it years ago, but I always clean the bores as if all ammo was corrosive. This came in 20 round boxes, packed 6 into a neat waxed pack. Perfect for long term storage. It is corrosive, right? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/fritz/MVC-003F.jpg fritz
cold shot
are those for an ak47 or sks? If they're berdan primed, I would assume they would be corrosive. I know the 8mm turks ammo are corrosive. Dave
fritz
On the other side of the box is this-- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/fritz/MVC-005F-1.jpg So, it must be corrosive. While these Russian made cartridges claim to be "made to hunting specifications", they do not expand like a regular hollow point does. It was just a claim, and like a lot of Russian claims, it's a bunch of crap. fritz

AzRednek
My guess being that the importer's code isn't written in stone anywhere it could mean anything. I found out the hard way not to rely on seller's claims of ammo being non-corrosive. Two that comes to mind is SARCO and Numrich. What I've heard of the Rusky hollow points, again just what I've heard and can't say for certain. At least here in Arizona the 7.62X39 hollow points are legal for hunting. Az hunting big game regs say something along the lines, any centerfire soft or expanding tip ammo, FMJ's are not allowed. Pretty vague but 30 Carbine or 22 Hornet soft tips are legal here on Elk or Bison but 458 Win Mag solids are out.
fritz
It may be legal for hunting (because it has a hollow point)) but it has a core of steel under that hollow point. It performs just like a fmj. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/fritz/MVC-007F-1.jpg fritz
