Gunsmithing School

Clemson

Recommended Posts

Some of you know that I am working part time at Piedmont Technical College. I am teaching in the Gunsmithing Department, which allows me to also TAKE courses in the Gunsmithing Department. I have heard horror tales of worn out equipment and lack of resources at other schools, but I will have to say that South Carolina has done it right.

The machine shop is absolutely loaded with new lathes, mills, surface grinders, a couple of CNC machines, and EDM machine, and stuff that I don't even understand. The Gunsmithing lab has workbenches for a dozen students at a time (soon will add 4 more benchs), tools, small parts, probably $25,000 worth of reamers, gauges, screws, spring stock, etc. from Brownells, books, sanders, grinders, buffers, saws, etc.

There is a bluing lab with hot salts blue tanks.

If any of you is ever in or near Greenwood, SC, contact me, and I will give you a tour. There are classes of one type or another most evenings. I am teaching a course that is a combined NRA Home Firearms Safety, how to shoot a pistol, and South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit class.
