Dr.Hess
Well, you could probably just put them in a vibratory tumbler with walnut hull media and do a good job of polishing them. I seriously doubt there'd be a primer ignition issue. I've heard of people polishing up loaded centerfire ammo like that too. It really takes a good wallop to set off a primer, and I don't see that happening in a vibratory tumbler.
AzRednek
I've used a vibratory tumbler to polish loaded ammo and never had a problem. Never have vibro-polished shotshells though. Brasso, auto polish/wax or steel wool along with your elbow grease will also work
Spiris
I have heard people talk about polishing loaded rounds in a vibratory tumbler and I wonder what effect it has on the powder charge. Does the powder break down some, especially extruded powders that are coated with deterrents that give the powder its burn rate? I know that I would never do that myself. I also wonder if anyone has ever chronographed a before and after tumbling to see if it affects actual velocity and SD #s. If I have thought about it, someone else must have too.
