roscoedoh
Take a look at the 405 Winchester. Unless I'm dreaming, I think I've read somewhere where a fellow got some of these to feed in a Lee-Enfield. I think they share the same case head as well. Tombstone Arms
Have you seen Century's #4 in .45ACP . . . Believe it or not, it uses 1911 magazines. Looks like they just cut out the slot in the .303 mag and jammed a Gov't. mag in.

Tombstone Arms
yes i saw that...looks neat I placed an order for a few of them with Dianna before they were even listed in their flyer. They were already sold out. I'm on the backorder list . . . and waiting. Somebody's buying them like crazy.

Sailormilan2
Groove diameter used to be different for the 45 acp and the 45 LC. .451 and .454 respectively. Now, it is my understanding, that basically in the interest of economics, they use one barrel size.................. .451" Rifle size is still .457/.458". Reverend Recoil
The 450 Marlin might work.
sonic1
thanks after 4 hour on line reading up on bore and groove for .45 i see a wide range of sizes..looks like twist rate is the biggest factor that changes..
Sailormilan2
Another one that might work is the 45-70. I believe that SOG was carrying some commercially modified #4 Mk1s that were modified to 45-70.
roscoedoh
I believe that SOG was carrying some commercially modified #4 Mk1s that were modified to 45-70. They're made by Gibbs Rifle Company and sold as the Gibbs Summit Carbine. Though Gibbs is sold out of them, the rifles can still be had for under $500 and I'm thinking the last couple I saw were selling for closer to $350. They're neat; they're nickled and some even have a synthetic stock. All you have to do is shoot it; no work. One of these might be something to think about in leau of starting another project. I think it would save you lots of hassle and they sound like fun rifles. Case heads are nearly same and pressure is less.
