Blown Up Mauser

well by the looks of the breaks that reciver was a small ring and or was also investment casted too grainy to be a real forged mauser receiver or made from bar stock

Rod,

That was my thoughts! It look's to me the metal is crystalized. Looks more like cast-iron than real steel. Also the RING looks shaved. Maybe ground down to look better.

The small round gas escape hole and the guide rib on the bolt tell me it was a sweede.

Also a sweede bolt wont fit into anything but a sweede.

 

Yup, WAS a swede.

well gee, just look on top of the front ring for the nam-..... oh. i see the problem! =)

 

looks too nicely finished to be chinese. as to the crystalized metal, if it was improperly heat treated, you'd get some crystals. (be that from the factory or a 3rd party heat treater)
