karlunity
Well Bob is sorta like my nephew. He was named for me. He has some problem with his dad, who is a very nice guy, and decided to join the Corps. His dad, a very old friend asked me to talk him out of it. I told him that i would tell Bob the truth as I remember it with no b.s. but that was the best I could do. That was last week. They called me this morning an the way to the recruiter and I gave Bob some last minute advice about Parris Island, seems the recruiter had forgotten to mention our little "vacation spot". I told him about the "Yellow foot prints" and to keep his MOUTH SHUT, I advised him to get any promisses in writing and remained him that ANY agreement was subject to the needs of the Corps and his being qualified. His dad and mom are not to happy but I am proud of the kid. karl
Jimro
It is always hard for the older generation to see their sons volunteer. I'm sure you congratulated the young man, please continue to offer encouragement as he will likely need it during training. Jimro
karlunity
Fellas. I am ashamed to say that the little maggot got turned down!!! Seems that he was on probation for carrying a knife and cannot be accepted till that is cleared up. His day promised him a Porsche sports car if he changed his mind. I told them that if he would take a car over being a Marine, he was not marine material and the Corps would do better without him!!!!!!!! karl

karlunity
Seems that a letter from a lawyer will clear that up, I told him to send it "return receipt requested" He turned down the car, Seems the kid wants to be a Marine after all. karl
Jimro
Turning down the car is a good sign. Tell him that if the Marines turn him down the Army is still hiring. Jimro
