karlunity
Now this fella is a shooting buddy, not a wealthy fella by any means. He called me over to his truck after graduation and said "We got you a gift." Now teaching is considered to be a "women's" profession in many eyes and you get stuff like cups or art pens...NOT THIS TIME. I got a 1851 58 cal cap and ball rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are going shooting week after next when school is out. But man...that beats the hell out of a coffee cup. karl I would add that he did not give it to me at school. http://www.euroarms.net/Avancarica/AVHTM/ZZ260.htm
AzRednek
You're a lucky stiff!! When I was a mailman I used to get Christmas gifts and tips. I would get anything from joints to fudge but never anything like your percussion rifle. Time to start hoarding lead. The lead pot empties fast casting those huge 58 cal mini-balls. karlunity
Thanks AZ. I have the rifle apart now for cleaning and refinishing and polishing the stock. I am reading that you can get a MV of 1000fps and that is with 570 grains of lead. ME around 2200 karl

FC
How neat! Reproduction, right? Did you get the accessories?
karlunity
Click the URL for pictures : ) No..just the rifle. It is a reproduction made in Italy. Once I get it re-finished and cleaned..I shall get some powder and shot. I found the shot at "Lock stock and barrel" and the ffg at a at local shop. I was looking these up on the net...seems that they cost MORE than a AK-47. I like the history but I never would have paid 6 bills for one. Seems that I recall reading that the reenacter spend thousands on their gear and kits...now I can believe it. Karl
