tinkerfive
Just curious. I posted down in 'For Sale' a stock that I came across for you. What has me curious is that the action is left in that the bolt handle is on the left side BUT so is the cheek piece. So the gun would be shot right handed and operated left handed. It just seemed like an awkward combination. I understand shooting right handed with a right handed gun. If you had a left handed gun, wouldn't you shoot left handed? AzRednek
I'm a southpaw but my strong eye is right. I do some handgun shooting left but all my long gun shooting is done right handed. A deceased friend of mine was a lefty but learned how to swiftly operate a right handed bolt. He would drop the rifle's butt into his stomach off of his left shoulder. His right hand operated the bolt and lifted the rifle back to his left shoulder. After years of practice he could shoot and chamber a round nearly as fast as a right handed shooter. Horsefly
I shoot RH guns.I reach over the top to shift gears. It requires dropping the butt down some like AZ's buddy does.Jerry
Jimro
Left handed, right eyed. I shoot right handed rifle, and prefer right hand for pistol. I used to prefer left hand for pistol but practice has changed that since the right hand falls in line with my right eye easier. He was in the Army in the 1950's and they taught him to shoot left handed. For many years he shot a left hand Savage 30-06.
Jimro
Army doctrine is to shoot based on eye dominance. Learning to shoot on your weak side eye can be done with training. Jimro
tinkerfive
My Dad is right handed but, is left eye dominant. Now that's too funny When I asked the question, I didn't expect that it would circle around to this. I'm right handed and left eye dominant too. I guess that is why, at least in part, that I feel that I have to have a scope. I do shoot right handed. Tinker
