ken98k
It's been a very smoky summer here in AK. Record high temps and no rain mean lots of forest fires. Most of the wildfires are in the Interior. Over 2 million acres so far with no relief is sight. Air quality is generally bad here in the winter but this summer it is hazardous for kids and older folks to go outside. I feel sorry for the tourists that have saved for a lifetime for an Alaskan vacation. Visibility is 1 mile or less.
Spiris
Over 2 million acres so far with no relief is sight. Sorry to hear of the fires that you're dealing with now. Such a waste of valuble resources. Just think of the number of homes that could be built with the lumber that was destroyed. Spiris
karlunity
We have fires here, some down the hill, but nothing that I know of in that magnitude. Good luck sir Karl
ken98k
It was still dark at 7:30 this am. due to the smoke blocking out the morning sun. Everything is covered with ash most mornings.

ken98k
The weather has taken a complete turn around and it finaly started raining the first week of August. I guess the fires are pretty much under control because the smoke is gone. However, we've had a couple frosts already and the leaves are rapidly changing. Some are already falling. I just hope we have a good September because the rest of this year has been shict.
FC
That air looks almost as bad as L.A., and looks like a VOG day (volcano smog) in Hawaii. 2 million acres- boy is that sad! I'm really glad you're getting rain.
