9.3X62 Mauser

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Which one of the new reloading manuals has the most data for the 9.3x62 Mauser? None of my manuals list this cartridge. I,m interested in safe loads for a M649 Husqvarna, which is based off of the model 96 Mauser. What are some of your favorite powders? I purchased some 250 Gr. Nosler Accubond bullets. I would like to keep velocitys in the 2200-2300 FPS range.

Thanks,

Bob

Straight out of the Nosler manual (#6)

250 grain AccuBond

Varget (most accurate)

Starting charge- 52.5 2383 FPS

Ending charge- 56.5 2525

IMR 4064

Starting charge- 52.0 2341 FPS

Ending charge- 56.0 2582

IMR 4320

Starting charge- 55.5 2415 FPS

Ending charge- 59.5 2569

I accept no responsibility for error in this data or error to note maximum loading charges. (save my own a$$, sorry)

May want to start lower for the huskey. These loads were for modern firearms. Sounds like the starting loads would be ok though, close to your desired range.

The new Hornady book may. They started making 9.3's a while back as you most likely know. May try Barnes too. I don't have a new Hornady book yet, but I will let you know what’s in there when I get mine.

Here's data from Nosler's load site using the 250gr Accubond.

You'll note that Nosler seems to favor faster burning powders in the 9.3x62.

IMO, the data available at manufacturer's/distributor's online load site are the newest, up to date information available, and I use the printed manuals for reference only as a cross check.
