AzRednek
Finally got a chance to see some of the police trade-in Smith and Wesson 38's J&G is selling. Two of them followed me home but the 5 inch Model 10 I wanted was sold out. For the low cost I was expecting to see some beat up junk. To my surprise if you can get beyond the holster wear, dings and some scratches. Mechanically all I looked at were very solid, cylinders locked up tightly and no excessive play. All appeared to have been well taken care of, bores were clean and rifling sharp and appeared to have not been shot very much. For some reason J&G will not say where they came from other than an out of state police trade-ins. Keep in mind though like buying mil-surp rifles. It can be a crap shoot and you might get a lemon. J&G does have an inspection period and return policy. Returning one long distance via a FFL would probably not be worth the expense and trouble of eating FFL fees and return postage. I'll try and get some pics posted later.
