donmarkey
I quoted someone a price on a complete 1909 triggerguard. When he asked me to put it together for him, I said no problem. Until I realized I was out of floorplates. I put this together using a 98 floorplate, I hope he likes it. -Don After I finished it I came across a parker hale floorplate, it fit but the pivot hole was in the wrong spot, so I welded it up and redrilled. If he doesn't want the 98 one I'll put a release in this one and see if it will work. -Don
ken98k
Nice work Don. I'm going to try making a hinge for a Siamese that I'm working on. It already has a catch similar to a 1909 but no hinge. I'm a little hesitant to start cutting on it though because parts for these are hard to come by. Kenny
littlecanoe
Don, I love the look of that guard. You're really developing, have developed, a knack for those hinged floor plates. LC
tinkerfive
Just a question. The raised serrated 'button' on the inside of the trigger bow, is that something that you took license to do or is that a pretty faithful reproduction? I ask because I just got an 09 and mine has no such 'button'. I suppose that some fool could have filed it off because he thought that it got in the way of his fat finger. It is rather difficult to release the floor plate with no 'button' and the lever completely flush. Tinker
z1r
Tinkerfive, The argie guards came with two types of releases. One that is flush with a groove in the bow near the end of the release and the type Don shows in his pics. Don's interpretation is very nicely done. Great work Don. ikesdad
If you can find a Portuguese Verguiero, it had a hinged trigger guard with an in the bow button release. Same thing as a 98 trigger guard and these were Mauser made rifles so it figures that some parts are interchangeable. I have'nt had an 09 guard in years but in my memory, they dont have the lock screws, the Verguiero does.

I have'nt had an 09 guard in years but in my memory, they dont have the lock screws, the Verguiero does. This one sports Verguiero bottom metal. The left guard is an issue Verguiero guard, the middle has been cleaned up, the right one is a 1909 Argentine guard. The Verguiero has locking screws, the Argie doesn't. Clemson
The button can be added to the standard Argie release. This photo shows one that has been soldered on to the original. Clemson
