If it was a jap barrel they have cut some off the back,and could possibly rechamber'd it for 308. only way to know bore is to have it checked.could be done with set of calipers would be close enough to tell you. Interested to know myself.

It my have been 30cal mg barrel someone turned on lathe to fit.

Thanks I'll try it out reduced and work up to were I feel comfortable. I found some more online. Some where using military brass and primers for some of the loads. Thanks for the input.

Those are really nice. I like how the mauser looks. Once I get the 308 finished I think Im gonna start one in the 9.3x62 it would be a nice addition to the flock.

Thanks, I was stoked to find it . the metal is pretty good. I'll probably change the sights on it to a more sporter look,as soon as I learn how to do them properly and not get them off center...

I really like that rifle. Been thinking of making up a mauser in 9.3x62. Very interesting caliber. That person should be proud of that,you do some super work.

Found this sporter Jap T99 today at the gunshow,someone done the bolt handle on it and did pretty good job. bore is pretty good make good shooter. all for $75.00..

Whats the going rate for getting a new bolt handle welded on and cleaning up the weld? where the reciever wont have to be notched real deep or notched at all?

Ive fired a Ishapore 2A1 with commercial 308 and had no problems with it at all ,was very accurate with the iron sights. The cases showed no sign of sever bulging. They looked pretty good. The rifle was in very good to excellent condition. but thats not to say there could be some that are wore out and would be unsafe. The rifle I had now belongs to a friend of mine that is still using it and has added a scope to it and synthetic stock...

Anyone got a favorite load for this round using IMR or Hodgden powder? Trying to find a accurate load.. Thanks

Do you have to bake the duracoat or is it the kind that you just let dry on its own? Will it stay on pretty good?

Im looking to get a T38 action or barreled reciever to build a sporter out of and gonna get a complete rifle one of these days. I live closer to fulton than tupelo. I live in small community called dorsey..let me know where it will be held at and I'll try to attend if nothing happens.

We have that antispatter stuff at work and looks like vicks salve.It works. They also have a liquid that is green that has to dry before you can use.Never thought of putting on part to keep the spatter off.Your lucky on the deal..

Ive built a few rifles and going to build a few more if things go well.Ive always let someone else do the bolts,but decided that was not gonna work on 3 days a week check. so Im gonna do my own Ive welded before almost 10 years fixing leaks on AC compressors at work.I bought a vz24 reciever w/parker hale barrel on it and will have hunt up parts to finish it out. I have a bolt out of fn k98 that Im gonna use,it will need new handle so Im just gonna have to get busy and get it done,got a mosin Im gonna do the bolt handle on it to.got several more projects in the works various calibers.just got to let the money build up little by little and just be thankful .

riceone do you live in Columbus,Mississippi? I live near Tupelo. Ive seen your website and very nice.Ive driven to columbus several times looking for milsurps. I havent been in awhile.Nice to know of another here in the state...We'll have to get together sometime.

It has no ability to add gas,flux wire only..so you do bolt work with your mig and it turns out good? Ive used both mig and tig at work but I cant carry my practice bolts in there and try them out that would cost me my job. So Im trying to figure out which works better for doing bolt handles. At work the tig does the best at being a real pretty weld with less grinding cleanup.but the mig does good with some grinding required to look nice. but Ive never used the flux shielded wire and was wondering if it would make a good weld ,but I figure it will take more grinding to look nice,but if it leaves gas blowout on the weld it will look like crap and will need considerable more work than really needs to be done. looking for a little guidance on this trip as to what road to take... I appreciate all the help and guidance I get on this journey..

Thats what I was thinking that the Tig would do better for bolt work and other fine work. I had a chance to buy mig that had no gas attachment used flux shielded wire for 100.00 but I was thinking that it would not do a very good job on bolt handles.hence the question here before I spent money on something that I would regret later. So I 'll just wait till tax refund and buy a Tig welder. Got a parker hale barrel on Vz24 reciever that needs bolt done and get a decent trigger guard for.Wanting to do the bolt work myself instead of getting someone else to do the job. got several more projects that need things also like my mosin sporter tht Im workin on. well thanks for easing my mind on which to get..I guess thats enough rambling for now.

will the flux shielded wire do a weld as good as the mig w/gas?? Trying to figure out the best way to go and try to save some money. Thanks

Its a new spring that just doesnt come high enough and engage more solidly. I think Ive got it fixed. Still gonna do some more work on it just to be sure. Thanks

I bought new trigger spring and after putting it on,it will not catch the cocking piece when I close the bolt. Does the spring need to be modified to come up higher to catch?.its not touching but just a hair. when it does cock its very unsafe, the rifle can be fired just by bumping it hard.trying to figure out if it needs some modifing anbody else have this problem? Thanks

Its very easy on the back, not alot of recoil. My wife luvs it. It'll shoot about nickle size group with remington factory loads, havent gotten a chance to see how the handloads do. That'll come sometime this summer.
