  1. Alot of the stainless was 1/4" thick, and these are the only welders they used. I did have to wire them at 208v though, because they had problems getting it hot enough at 120v. -Don
  2. Midway and brownells both sell them sized to factory specs. -Don
  3. The millrights on my last job used these welder (the non hf) to weld all the stainless in a food process plant. They liked them, just no ac, so no alum. But under $1000 sounds good. -Don
  4. What's the difference between scratch start and miller's lift arc? -Don
  5. That's kind of what I was thinking, but the wife would probaby kill me if ups delivered 5k in guns. And how would that look on my c+r license? 100 turks, it's just a big collection. -Don
  6. They are all yugos, $90 good condtion, $130 vg, and $150 excellent. Of course none of them can be shipped to you. What do you have to do to make them legal in CA? Is it the grenade launcher? -Don
  7. Thanks, that's what I was thinking. There non-hf unit also has a lift arc function(they have a demo on the site), but the pulse start would be better. -Don You're right there. It seems that atleast one even other week, I'm firing up either my mig or stick welder. -Don
  8. http://www.millerwelds.com/products/tig/maxstar_150_sth/ Any opinions? You can get a optional foot pedal. Is the hi freq. worth the extra $300? DC only so no alum. -Don
  9. If thats the case, you will probably be better of with a wisner's or talley floorplate. They leave the tongue long so you could re-square the guard and then fit the floorplate. The only tools you need is a drill press and a couple good files. So it's something you could do yourself. Unless you want a new guard, I have them but you won't like the price. -Don
  10. I've never shot one, sog has them for $90. I was thinking about ordering 1 when I get a load of turks. Are they worth it? -Don
  11. I've got drop in floorplates made by blackburn, all you have to do is drill the hinge whole. I could do it for you but you get a nicer fit if you drill the guard and floorplate in one operation. -Don
  12. That's better! I'd love to see a close up of that safety, looks good! -Don
  13. Z, Where are you finding the fn safeties? All I can find are the cheap gpc ones. -Don
  14. The half moon latch looks like a clearance cut for a trigger mounted safety. Except it's on the wrong side, maybe they just cut both sides. If you have access to a welder, you could just fill in the hex of the screw and round the top of the weld to whatever shape you like. Unless you payed alot for it I'd keep the guard, you can learn alot from trying to fix things. -Don
  15. I shot one once. That's the extent of my knowledge though. Good luck, I'm waiting for an answer on this too, to see if it's something I'd like to try. -Don
  16. Do they normally point straight down? Or are they out a couple degrees? -Don
  17. Z, It turned out just beautiful! You're defendantly the man around here! Thanks for the pics, it gives me a kick in the butt to do something this all the parts and pieces laying around. -Don
  18. It's always overplayed. If not who would watch the news. It's the same as the tb problem in our deer herd here in MI. The areas affected are smaller than they make them out to be. And the cwd is next. They already banned the import and export of farm deer. A friend of mine has an elk farm up north and now doesn't have any customers to sell them to. -Don
  19. Taking them water skiing adds more fun to the situation. -Don
  20. Mad cow or bird flu? Yep I'd rather have a steak too! -Don
  21. If you shim make sure you lap the rings, unless it's a 1 pc mount then don't worry. I lap all mine anyway. There's probaby a formula, but I don't know of one. I've just trial and errored it with a boresighter. -Don
  22. Looks great! Was that their dicropan im? How'd you like it? -Don
  23. To add to Z's comments, there are inexpensive blanks available and also chambered barrels with no threads from companies like shaw. Threading a cheaper barrel would be a better choice than a pretheaded barrel, if you're going through the trouble of pointing up the threads. -Don
  24. Why would you want to grow up? I hope I never do! -Don
