  1. John is this what you are referring to? I believe they were made by recknagel years ago. I did not see them in the catalog I have. I think you can download their current catalog from the web if you can read the German. New England custom guns is the us importer of you are on this side of the pond.

  2. I make those. He is referring to the recessed type that is fit like a forend latch on a double. I will try to find some pics. I thought about making some but too many irons already in the fire. Maybe I need to get some info to Karl and see if he can do the engineering. Making them is the easy part.

  3. I don't know the details but I guess he can use straight walled cartridges to deer hunt at his property. Where normally would be shotgun only. So hence deer rifle. Where I hunt we can use just about any rifle so I just use my little 06 or my win88 for walking.

  4. Some said not much posted lately so I will share. Here's a nice little rifle I did the metal work on a few years ago for a friend. It came back to me recently to get a bolt peep and the bolt jeweled so I snapped a few pics while I was working on it.

  5. Josh it all depends on the action and what you are trying to accomplish. I assume you were planning on using a prethreaded barrel? Measure the action, are the existing rings true to each other? If so you will find that they are more than likely true to the bore already. If so you should be able to get reasonable accuracy just fitting to the one shoulder.

  6. I agree with bill. If you can't cut a barrel tenon then why true the face? A true face is a moot point without proper tenon sizing in my opinion. Most receivers are true enough to use prethreaded barrels. If it is out of spec or you what to true for extreme accuracy then send the job out.

  7. Use a standard large ring stock and glass bed the action. If you tint the glass bed it won't be very noticeable. Other than that your are looking at a custom stock. Very few people have a pattern for it. If you want a real nice stock you can always sent it to be duplicated later.

  8. No they are famous for becoming unintentional takedowns. Used to common practice to turn the rings down too in the years gone past. If you ever measured the thread relief cut you will see why it isn't a good idea. Some actions did it right, some not so good.
