  1. hey Guyes. I think i finally got my pictures to upload. Thank goodness. First pic is of a small 6 that I got trigger happy on. I called him in Monday evening and I just couldn't resist a 50 yard shot. It was the first with the .338-06. I've found that a 200 grain ballistic tip is way over-kill on deer. Shot him in the point of the front shoulder and everything from the chest to the back of the ribs was jello. He did manage to roll about 20 yards or so. The other pic is of a small 8 that I shot with my bow the second week of season. Hes not much ither but, what the heck, its a trophy with a bow. Tomorrow is a new day. I've passed up some nice bucks this week, but wow, did I see a good one this morning. I can see the .338-06 stomping him tomorrow. Brenden ok. the pics wont come up for some reason. I used the attachment icon at the bottom of the page but nothing shows? what the heck?
  2. Holy crap!! that is a huge moose. I bet he is very pleased. BTW Ak, how did you post pics? ever since this new change, i havn't been able to and I've got some kill pics for everyone. Brenden
  3. Thanks Gentlemen. Anybody know where I can get some directions at? Mine didn't come with any. Thanks. Brenden
  4. Got a quick question for you all. For the wheeler drill and tap fixture, is it top plate number one for mausers and number 2 is for enfields and other items? Thanks. Brenden
  5. Man, you turned that old war horse into a nice sporter! I still need to do my mosin build. You did well. Brenden
  6. Devcon Steel putty. That stuff is crazy strong, would work well on what your trying to do. Brenden
  7. Well done. I've been looking to shoot one with a bow. WV has a state wide bow season for bear, I've only seen one in season thus far. Whats the weight if you were going to guess Heath? Looks to be a pretty good one. Did you have to scrape the $h** out of your pants afterwards? Brenden

  9. Well done. IMO, those model 12's will shoot with or outshoot any production gun nowdays. Good story. Brenden
  10. If you get the stock for your carcano, and put that pattern on it, its going to look pretty good. Just the engraving you've done on mil. stocks really cleans them up and makes them look pretty good. Well done. I don't have a laser, but i have a checkering kit, need to get it back out and try agin. Impressive Sir. Brenden
  11. Your son did well. Its good to see some young people that are still intrested in the outdoor sports. I hope hes hooked for life. Brenden
  12. Thats pretty steep for just a barrel. I just bought a barrled reciever with bottom metal for $160 off gunbroker about a month ago. (I thought that was high!) Its a 29" threaded. Good and clean inside and out. Good pice of steel. Brenden
  13. You guyes are getting some nice bucks! Our actual bow season doesn't open untill October 16 or 17. We've had a one week bow season, and this week is muzzloader season for a week. Thats a nice deer. You guyes are making me jelous! Thats a big bodied deer, very nice rack as well. good job. Brenden
  14. Nice buck. Looks like decient mass for a younger deer. I'd be happy with that for my first! I killed a couple does Friday evening during our one week season for a bow. It was miserable hot, but a guy i know needed some deer meat for his mom. My bow is in the shop, so I used the magnum long bow. It did the trick. I'm sitll one up on you, killed a huge eight point with my car a week ago. Brenden
  15. Mr Fix it, Richards does offer a Manlicher style stock for barrels up to 22" I believe. There is cost associated with it though, an extra $49. I'd try Little boats idea, but it would be hard to get the joints to be invisiable. Maybe put a thin slice of maple spacer in between the joints to hide (well might make it more noticable ? i dunno) and add some character if that is your thing. (some hate maple spacers on stocks) Good luck, Brenden
  16. Flaco Good to hear from you. Thought you had dropped off the face of the earth. Just so you know, I did Google you, and found your written works. Pretty neat. Brenden

    98 Mauser?

Unless you have a very long barrel, I have a hard time seeing a 200 gr bullet going that fast out of a 30-06. You may hear pieces of your action flying by your head if you push it that much. YMMV. Brenden
  18. Its pretty cool. So bright and full of color, now I feel like I'm trippin' on acid everytime I open this page. Change is tough, but this is neat as can be. Brenden
  19. Thats a good looking gun. Stock is very nice, i noticed the grain diffrence between the butstock and forend, thats pretty cool. You did well and it looks good. Alot of what mine looks like, the early sporterization. Gotta love that era. Well done. Brenden
  20. I've been thinking about getting an FFL. What all do you have to go through? How much per year, etc. Is this something anybody can get? Brenden
  21. Now to be nice after I sent a very rude and nasty P.M. Hope you had a good day and everything went right for a change. I shall drink a brew in honor of your birthday. Brenden
  22. It hasn't fell out yet, just seems to back out a fraction of an inch if worked alot. My cut is deep enough, may need to lightly hone top of CP or the safety itself. I didn't cut the nylon piece, its crush fit but if you take the safety out, the nylon is mashed down so much. It just doesn't seem all that great to me. I'm going to use a spring instead and see how it works. I can't stand plastic on anything like this, just looks "toyish" Brenden
  23. The scope set up you speak of IS A PIECE OF $H!*. Believe me, been there done that. They are not reliable at all. I'm not knocking your set up or trying to put you down, I had the same set up on a Yugo. It sucked. 7X57 is a good cal. Good choice. At least you got to run some rounds through it and hear a bang. I havn't target shot for a few weeks. Brenden
  24. Good afternoon all. I recently installed a Dayton Traister safety on the project sweed for my dad. Now don't get me wrong I like this safety, but the retaining pin (nylon) flat out sucks and I can for see this coming loose and backing out (it has started to already). What is a better way to retain the piece while still having the clean travel of the safety? My thoughts have been using a spring, but i'm sure you guyes have a better way. Thanks. Brenden
  25. Thats a good looking gun. I have two yougo's. A 48 and a 24/47. The 48 i left alone and the 24/47 is in the works for a light weight .308. There was a gun show a while back and a guy had a 48 for sale. He wanted large sum of $250 for it and it looked like crap. He argued me up and down that it was a standard length 98 german made gun. I finally mumbled profanity under my breath and walked off. Nice gun. Brenden
