    HEY,

Anyone in southeast Georgia, my son just got transferred to Brunswick.......

And my brother just got transferred to Minneapolis, Minn. Poor old southern

boy, never lived out of Alabama. I think I will build him a new rifle for next

hunting season. Ought to be a big buck up there somewhere.....

  2.

AT the last gun show I purchased several barrlled actions,

one of which is one of the yugo sanitized model 98s. In

working this one over I have removed the rear sight. But

in doing so it appears to have a sleeve under it, or so I thought.

Now I am not sure if it's a sleeve or a step in the barrel. It is unlike

the Sweed or 1908 I am working on. If I am not mistaken, these

were german wartime production??? Any info would be greatly

    appreciated......

What type of tool do you use to remove the screw from

the front sight, I have bent just about every screwdirver

I have, and a couple that i made. I have soaked it in

breakfree for two weeks and still have no luck.

All of my impact heads are very big, and I have

had no luck finding anything small.

    Thanks Mike

  4. Welcome aboard,

Great to have you. Sorry to hear about the hearing, hand and IT. Been in IT

for better than 30 years (old Mainframer), can't stand it. Really looking forward

to retirement in a couple of years. Then I can go back to Alabama where I can

    hunt.......

The guys on the board are really great, I have learned a lot, don't talk much,

but have learned a great deal. And really admire what these guys can do and

    teach.

    Again, welcome aboard.

If you are thinking about building a swede, you might want to give these

guys a call...Haven't checked to see how many he had left, but if you hurry

you may be able to get one or more. I think several people on this forum

    have done business with them.

Swedish Mauser reciever, new never used Husqvarna dated in the 1940's

$50ea or 5 for $200 Note: The Recievers were made for use on commercial

hunting rifles during WW II when comercial FN 98 actions were not available

but are identical to the recievers used on the 38 and 96 models

  6. I was thinking around 100 to 125, but wasn't sure. I didn't

want rip this guy off. By the way, the handle has not been bent. I thought

it was in pretty good shape overall, but it seems that finding a new stock may be

    a long hard process.

    Thanks for your help.

I think I'm going to enjoy my new toy......

  7. I have come upon an opportunity to acquire a M38 arisaka. The problem is, I have no idea

what to offer for it, and the person selling has no Idea either.

There are a very few out there, but not in the same configuration as this one.

This one has no MUM. The butstock is cracked from the wrist back.

There is a big hunk taken from the left side, just under the rear site.

    It is non matching.

It was covered with surface rust, which cleaned up really nice.

But, there was two good spots of rust in the barrel, after a brisk cleaning, the barrel

now shines, but is pitted in the two spots.

The only ones that I could locate for sale, had the mum and was in really nice condition.

I know that Riceone is an Arisaka afficenauto (sorry about the spelling). And thought

that someone may give me an idea what to offer.

I don't want to rip this person off, but at the same time I do not want to be taken either.

I have pictures, but I am not very good with the camera yet....

Thanks in advance for your help.

I picked up a sporterized No 4 MK1 yesterday at a gun show. It was really cheap but the metal

looked about 95%, and unaltered. Only the stock has been cut down. I bought it with restoring

in mind (this is my first one). I have found matching numbers on the barrel, receiver and bolt.

what else do I need to look for? I haven't pulled it down too far yet, mama doesn't know that

it followed me home. On the receiver it says NO 4 MK 1. On the strap it has "ENGLAND",

"1943" , the serial number and a stamp that looks like an airplane. I never really looked

before, but it also has a plastic butplate with a (can't think of what you call those little holes

    back there).

Also, what are the lugs in front of the front sight protector? bayonette (sp?).

TIA for any info you can give.

  9. I also just acquired my first turk 38, a k kale. on mine, there is metal showing

on the bottom of the stock, these are springs which will have to be pushed

into the stock to remove the bands. yours may be the same. i placed a

small piece of wood on mine, covered it with a piece of vinyl and used

a pair of chanel locks to press them in. the bands came right off.

    good luck.

  10. open target (jpg),

using the menu select "file", "save as", ( put it somewhere you can get to ),"save"

    Then

Right click on start, select explore, which will open windows explorer.

locate file, double click on file name (mfrctarget.jpg), which will open the

    windows picture and fax viewer.

click the print button at the bottom of the screen. It will open the "photo

printing wizard. click "next" 4 times and it will print.
