  1. Usually none but we always have some goodies on hand just in case.this year we did get 2,our nearest neighbor brought their grandkids by,should have seen their faces when I just divyed up the bowl between em'.Wish we got hundereds. Jim
  2. MB,I remember now.Wondered at the time how it turned out,how big of a deal was boring it out,and how did you go about it.I've got a Remington 597 22 mag that might need hummerized. Jerry we dont have many quail here but have heard they are fine eating, only killed one in my life and Mom burned it,only thing I ever remember her burning ,she was a whale of a cook,I was only 12 or 13 and remember her being sick over burning it.I've thought about a little front stuffer for squirrels but they're just more work to clean than I care for anymore( the muzzle loader) MB me and my brother did alot of floating for squirrels,me with my old stevens single shot .22 and him with his .22 ,.410 over and under Savage he sure would make it rough on em'.One of our favorite times was when the mullberries were on,we would tie the boat and fish under a mullberry tree for catfish and when mr.bushy tail would show up we would pick him too,man were those good times, hadnt thought about them in years. Jim
  3. Squirrel ,biscuts and gravy!!! I was almost raised on it and if there is any better eating than a nice mess of young squirrels I,ve not found it.I don't own a .17 rimfire ,and it's been alot of work keeping from it after seeing what they will do first hand ,but I,ve struggled and managed so far but guys like you just keep comin' along and throwin' just a little more gas on the fire... What ya got MB I dont recall reading about it?What ammo you usein' Details man!! If your gonna stir me up do it right . Jim
  4. Jason ,I think you nailed the recoil or lack of it when you said stock design and recoil pad.I firmly believe its stock design, shoot a remington BDL in 300 (take your pick )Mag and see if it dont jar your eyeballs.I thought our possum cops had some screwy regs and thats what they are in Mo.,regulations not state statutes, but a min. inside spread??? thats desk jockey BS!Our carp cops came out with a new reg. in some counties last year ,in that before a buck is legal it has to have at least 4 points on one side.We all wondered how many got left to the coyotes over that ,but hell we got it easy.fritz you got to be schitting about a fishing lisence on your own place! If they were to try that crap around here I'm posative it would come to shootin' damn quick like.As a land owner in Mo. I dont have to have a fishing permit to fish in my ponds and there are NO regs at all on how I can do it or what I can keep. This doesnt apply to rivers or big lakes that you join.I also dont have to have a hunting permit to hunt on land I own or leese, other than a fed.duck stamp BUT I do have to go by the same regs. as to whats legal .Up untill last year we didnt even need a tag as a land owner, you just put your name and address on them (deer and turkeys),I usually just tore off a piece of feed sack put it on that and tied it on with some sack string and go check them in,did it that way for years. But starting last year we now have to go to town and get tags where everyone else does but ours are free but you check them in over the phone or computer ,Like the new check in but dont like having to go to town for the tags that gripes my arse.Feral hogs are shoot on sight. While on the subject of hogs we ate them pot bellied pigs sat. I wouldnt say they ruined good beer but had they not been smoked I dont think they would have been fit to eat, they had a funny texture to the meat and a different wang to them ,not terrible just not worth the trouble, anymore that need puttin' down will be left for the song dog's. Jim
  5. Midway is the only other that comes to mind right now. Jim
  6. Well I learned a couple things about pot bellied pigs today. The first is they can out swim a dog,I knew hogs were good swimmers but never figured these little imports could, really never crossed my mind to be honest till today. I was spreading turkey manure on one of my nieghbors hay fields when here come these damn pigs a good 3/4 mile from home just trotin' along big as God headed right for these folks house like they know where they'er goin',well the lovely lady of the house is out working in her yard and sics Sharpie their border collie on em' and they cant out run the dog and ole Sharpie is flat makin it rough on em and all three end up in the pond and it's pretty fair sized ,5 or 6 acres I'd guess and those pigs just lit out for the far side! I figured they would both drown but they hit the bank at that same trot leaving poor Sharpie in their wake.I believe it's one of the damndest things I ever saw.The lady told me they had rooted her flowers up a couple days earlier so yes fritz they do root, but I cant say I've ever seen anything but tracks and turds out of them myself.Second thing I learned was they have so much fat on em that they skin way easier than a domestic hog,I prefer my hogs scaulded and scraped but no time for that this evening. The meat looks awfully fatty but I wont know about taste till they come out of the smoker sat. afternoon, but I can almost taste them greasy little tendor loins, fried taters and ice cold beer already!! Jim
  7. Any body ever eat one?I've got some cull nieghbors that keep draging these things home then turning them loose.I've killed a few of them for being around my turkey houses, pork and poultry dont mix,but hate to just let the coyotes have em and I saw they've got a couple more, they were with my cattle tonight so it's just a matter of time till...I'm bettin they go down good with with a cold beer, any recipes out there? Jim
  8. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Em !!!! Hope it's a dandy for ya! Jim
  9. Jerry, I was wondering about your boy, couldn't remember for sure where he was at sure hope everythings ok with em,let us know if we can help somehow. Jim
  10. $2.49 today but headed up. Jim
  11. Clemson, I'm in the same boat as you on the ruskies,I've never delt with Interordinece as I 've just read way to many negatives about them to feel comfortable.I've not ordered any for almost a year now but the few Russians I've ordered ,I've ordered from Aztec and am more then pleased with them.I cant post links (dont know how) but if you will do a search for Aztec guns you'll find it, send John an e-mail about what you want he's been 100% on with me,I always pay the hand pick fee and tell him what I want and what I dont want (counter bores ect..) all have been #s matching good looking guns and no counter bores with shiney bores.Good luck Jim
  12. Dont know much about the Romanian's but a while back I ordered a 4 fer deal on the Yugos thinking I'd get one that really stood out in some way ,but they all looked the same ,same trigger pull and they all shot the same. All 4 have pretty stiff triggers compared to my Chinese SKS but they all shoot really well I think.Using Wolf FMJ and the issue iron sights all 4 will put 10 rounds into a baseball size group at 75 yards using my truck bed for a rest. The night sights are all the same too, about done for but I was just pretty tickled with how they shoot.Wish I could be more help. Jim
  13. Rat I always figured it was because it was so expensive but you may very well be right about the name....all though when that thing stood up out of the brush and hissed real big and deep at me in the dark from about 8 or 10 feet away it got called a few manly sounding names even if I wasnt actin' all that manly doin' it sure thought it was a man eater of some kind for a few seconds! Jim
  14. You did the right thing Tony.I went through about the same thing several months ago,the church needs to expand but some want to add on some want to just build a new building....folks got to fussin' and wanting me to take sides and bla bla bla....not at all what I was wanting out of a chuch,so I got to just staying away.Your idea about the kids is a dandy and I thank you for it! Jim
  15. I've only done a couple and thats been a few years back, but I used a friend of mines jig, made it pretty simple.Seems like it was made by B-square but I cant remember for sure now ,also seems he ordered it out of Brownells.Wish I was more help. Jim
  16. Dont want to hijack this thread but since Emu's have been mentioned ,thought I'd add my two cents worth on em.Couple years back when the market went to pot and folks went to turning them loose around here I went on one of what at that time was one of my almost nightly coon hunts,my dogs had treed down next to the river and I was making my way to them through some really thick brush when I came to a pretty deep and wide ditch witch the eaziest way across was a big ole dead cottenwood tree that had fallen across it so up and over I go and just as I steped down off of the tree trunk a limb knocked my light off my head causing the bulb to go out,no problem I always have extras and the moon was pretty big so I dug an extra bulb out and was walking along in the dark fumbling with replacing the bulb and walked up on one of those darn Emus dont know forsure which one of us was the most scared there for a minute but I sure had a hell of a time for just a minute figuring out what was out there in the dark with me,strung pieces of my light all over the river bottom going for my gun..lol ,laughed till I cried after figuring out what kind of bugger man was after me.Some friends of mine that coyote hunt with hounds killed a Emu one day that thier young hounds had bayed we grilled it up and it was really good tasted more like beef than fowl,if I hadnt known what it was I would have thought it was beef.I'd still liked to have been there when them boys walked up on those pups baying that thing just to have seen the looks on thier faces. Jim
  17. Being in the turkey business I sell alot of manure for fertilizer and we get calls all the time from folks looking to buy fertilizer,my daughters taught me what little I know about computers starting a couple years ago and when they set up my e-mail account they showed their pride in my proffesion by hanging manureman on me,sad to say it fits. Jim
  18. My thoughts exactly guys! Dont send me anything back Tony. Jim
  19. Stay after em FC. I filled mine out but gave only my name and age right, then got hatefull as hell with them and just flat wrote on it that it was none of their damn business and that if they mailed anything else it would be thrown out and that if anyone came around they would be put under citizens arrest for tresspass if I had time and felt like it ,if not Id just feed them to the hogs.Thats been several months back,Id actually forgotten about it till now. What was the one about ansectery (I think) anyhow I wrote I was 100% Ozark mountain brush ape. They may not have bothered even opening it though because on the outside in big red majic marker I'd written what a waste of MY time and MY tax dollars.Hope they send someone, got one some ole sows that are lookin a little poor . Jim
  20. Happy 50th Dave!! hope you have many more.Jim
  21. Was kind of hoping to pick a few ticks off my old Redtick hound if time allows. Jim
  22. I've got both and each has its place,he really wont go wrong with either one.But my opnion is after several 25-06s (25 caliber is my favorite) I'd go with the 22-250 for several reasons that big 25 is just a little to much gun for me to call it a varmit round,it will do it and do a super job of it dont get me wrong, but I've found them to be a bit finicky about what they like to shoot really well ie..varmit accurate and there isnt near the selection of factory ammo for the 25-06.I roll my own for all my long guns so its not a big thing. But 95% of the time the gun I keep in my truck here at the farm is a 22-250 ,a stainless Savage, sporter weight barrel ,syn.stock, its my go to gun.It likes what ever you want to feed it just pretty darn good from store bought to home brewed,41 gr. H380 behind a 40 gr.V-max is my favorite.I've killed just about everything you can kill in Mo. with that combo from deer(bullet placement a must) to crows and all have been spectacular kills.I here folks talk about the extra range of the 25-06 and yes it does have it ,IF your shot enough to use it.I'm not on varmit sized targets,I figure if I can hit a crow at 300 yds using my truck window or tree limb for a rest I've done about the best I can do.Jim
  23. FC dont sweat it buddy ,stuff happens and no one is blaming you for a LITTLE glitch.I'm just tickled to death you didnt just can the whole shebang after ezboard. Jim
  24. Sailormilan2, SSHHHH!!! please!! keep your voice down when posting about Mo. you'll hurt all my ticks and chiggers feelings, wait a minute, you mean there are places that aint got ticks ,chiggers and humidity?#&*@%$# I've been lied to again! Jim
