  1. I've got a "sportered" 94 done circa 1968. When I looked at the muzzle with a magnifying glass you could see the rifling wasn't "clean". Though if it's a particular round it could be that "one" hits the sweet spot. Not only did the smith cut it but he put a "target crown" on it.
  2. How long have you had it? Look at the muzzle. When I got mine I couldn't hit a 3x3 piece of paper reliably. I had the local gunsmith cut and re-crown it and it's remarkable
  3. Public employees enjoy certain prerogatives by being in a government job. NOT rights. Unfortunately I've met a LOT of public employees who wouldn't be where they were without" collective bargaining
  4. Here is the reply of the WH, "Owwww" I had contempt for clinton because he pissed away an opportunity to make the world better in the aftermath of the Soviet Union meltdown, What I have now isn't fit to be expressed.
  5. Picture is from my phone. I used a pencil eraser chucked in my drill press for about 15 seconds.
  6. I learned some time ago the first time I do something it usually has a HUGE learning curve. So I grabbed a large diameter punch and buffed it so it had a degree of shine and clamped in in my x-y vise and proceeded to practice. I quickly realized I needed some way to index it (as mentioned in the previous post) so I marked some masking tape and cut it to fit. I figure I'm going to have the nicest looking punch in town by the time I get it all worked out.
  7. Probably just anxiety but I presume you just start at one end and methodically work your way down by way of an "index". I plan on using a drill press and home made jig. I guess I just need to chuck it up and give it a shot.
  8. Don't know if I'm slow or just afraid. I've read Steve Wagners piece on bolt jeweling and built my jig and have the bolt polished but unlike skydiving (you get to altitude they open the door, you get out) I'm having trouble actually doing it. Anyone out there who's done it? Thx!
  9. We're a long way from " a man's word is his bond". Unfortunately
  10. I hope when I finish mine comes out that well..........
  11. that place hasn't gotten any better than when I was there in 81. It was a crap hole then and seems to be still. Seems that a number of "islamic radicals" have escaped from prison. This is not going to be good
  12. Best bet is to take a look at gunbroker or auction arms. These thing are going up in price (wish I'd bought one years ago when they were half the price)Depending on how you feel you could start @ $200 but with the box and what looks like a bullet mold 250 is probably legit.
  13. I've come across things the Army packaged decades earlier that could have been made the day before. A sealed container is paramount followed closely by ensuring it's clean and well coated/lubricated. I suspect being wrapped in cotton cloth (old t-shirts) impregnated with wheel bearing grease would do a good job of keeping air away.
  14. In the Soviet Union they came up with a new "5 year plan" every two years. Kind of like OUR congress is doing now. These are NOT nice people. They are "progressives" who think things will be much better with them running the show. Unfortunately the rot is deep and enhanced by the Department of Education, and all these not for profit or non profit organizations whose real purpose is socialism/communism as it will all be better when the state runs things.
  15. But the question is for how long? I'm teaching my children but there are millions of mindless idiots. "Better to die on your feet than beg on your knees"
  16. Compromise? 1.1 trillion is a compromise? How many trillion is that for this 111th and "Most open and ethical pay as you go congress"
  17. I'm past throwing up and into the dry heaves. All I want to know is "Who the hell do they think they are?". I'm afraid the next thing they'll say is "We REALLY should have tried harder to take their guns"
  18. Nice prototype but I don't see it in the budget. They also are working a a replacement for the M-2 .50 cal. As I recall it will run $50K +. Absolutely nothing wrong with the "MA duece" or the M4. Were fighting people whose most sophisticated weapon is a believer in a suicide vest.
  19. Didn't we sell a lot of steel in the way of scrapped ships (we had just fought "the War to end all Wars") to the Japanese?
  20. Is that the ACTUAL finish ? I considered them when looking to put a new stock on a small ring Mauser and I went through web hits and did did a pro/con list and came up with about 70% against. (Which is why I went to Boyds) How's the fit?
  21. It's all about the "total life" system. The very young rate very little and the old rate very little, After you hit middle age what you are "worth" decreases and of course what will be expended on your behalf is reduced. Just ask a Brit or a Canadian. And of course it's about control..........
