  1. Carpet bombing, while impressive is largely inefficient when a single nuetron bomb can be implemented. As an added benefit, the buildings and structures remain largely intact; allowing us to plunder their resources within a few weeks of the use of the bomb.
  2. The judge also stated that he was a Muslim as well. He should have recused himself at the very least. I hope that as a result of this ruling he not only forfeits his seat on the bench, but his privilage to practice law all together.
  3. Women! You can't live with 'em, and you can't drive 'em out into the middle of the desert and leave 'em for dead.
  4. I've paid my dues as well. The last time I was under fire, cell phones, digital camera's and the internet hadn't been invented yet. There was mass media, but I didn't experience them "embedded" until Dessert Storm. I don't think those guys did anything that warriors before them haven't done since the dawn of time. Their mistake was letting it get recorded and put out for all the world to see. Skirmishes, battles and wars are won by "Alpha's", not touchy-feely politically correct sensitive girly-boys. What they did was indicative of the "Alpha" mind-set. I believe it was George Orwell, who said of the Marines "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." Marines will be Marines! Semper Fi
  5. Oddly enough, she's doing a phone interview on Fox right this moment. I say "Good for her!". If our legislators had their way, we would all be victims to the thugs and criminals of this world. It warms my heart to see people (especially young people) are still willing to stand-up for themselves, and the Second Amendment of our Constitution. The Philistines are at the gates.
  6. I really enjoy reading stories with a happy ending.
  7. Acyually, the problem for me IS Mr. Obama, the man. I would not drink, nor shoot with him. Obama has publically expressed his admiration for Che Guevara while campaigning prior to the 2008 election (for those not up on their history, Che Guevara helped orchistrate and participated in Fidel Castro's Communist revolution in Cuba; rising in prominence to the position of Castro's second in command. After the revolution, Guevara was in charge of ferretting-out and executing anyone thought to have still been loyal to Batista. He was a thug and a killer). Obama also publically embraces the writings/teachings of Cloward and Piven: two Socialist activists from the sixties that out-lined a strategy for over-throwing United States Capitalism through first overloading the welfare system and bankrupting the country. He has demonstrated that he is a liar (I know, what politician isn't), and that he will say anything to promote the himself, and the spread of global socialism.
  8. May everybody enjoy a safe, healthy and prosperous new year!
  9. I'm no fan of the RINO Romney either, but our nation can't take another four years of Obama. He'll continue to bankrupt our nation; continuing his march to dismantle our Constitutional Republic, replacing it with a Socialist oligarchy.
  10. Meh. This is history repeating itself. Back in 1988 the Iranians were pissed-off at something or another and began laying mines in the Straights of Hormuz. I was part of the MAGTF (Marine Air Ground Task Force) that was deployed to the area to discourage them. Things quickly escalated, and the whole thing came to a head when Iran attempted to kamakazi the Aegis cruiser USS Vincennes with an A300 (airliner). I doubt this round of idiocy on behalf of Iran will get as far as things did in 1988.
  11. If I thought I could find a decent job in Alaska, I'd move there myself. John Muir once said, “No young person should ever visit Alaska. For they will be spoiled by the beauty and no place, they ever go to, will be as beautiful”.
  12. Sounds like you dated my ex-wife. Prior to my marriage, I never believed in the occult. My ex demostrated that there are in fact Succubi roaming this world, and she was their queen. My advice to the OP: RUN!!! Your ex sounds like a carbon copy of the four wheel drive, twenty-four carrat gold plated "Hag from Hell" that I was married to. Do yourself a favor, and bid good riddance to bad rubbish and move along with your new lady friend.
  13. Wouldn't the original furniture be considered a "tactical" stock?
  14. My 75 year old mother lives in Harlingen. While the summer heat, insects and proximity to the border would preclude me from ever living there, she likes it well enough.
  15. You look like a troll? I get that a lot too (sadly, I usually hear it from women).
  16. Looks like I obviously came to the right place for advice on the matter! Two excellent articles. Thank you!
  17. Lately I've been seeing the 7.62 Nagant revolvers all over for around $110, and I'm really tempted to pick one up. However, I have some reservations. The surplus ammunition for them seems to be drying-up (which might explain why they are becoming so affordable), and I don't want to own anything I can't take out and shoot. This leaves the prospect of reloading. I have found Lee dies that are supposed to successfully reload Winchester 32-20 brass into safe, shootable rounds for the Nagant revolver, but I understand it is not an understaking for the faint of heart (even for an experienced reloader). Has anyone had success reloading for the Nagant revolver? I would really like to add a military surplus revolver to my collection, but the Colt/Smith & Wesson 1917's are a little cost prohibative, and the Webleys with shaved cylinders that can use the half-moon clips and .45acp are getting as rare as hen's teeth. Anyone have any words of wisdom they could share with me?
  18. I don't think Rock Solid mounts can be purchased anywhere but from them directly (but I could be wrong). Their product is well worth the expense. I mounted their scope base myself, but had them do the bolt handle, and their work was really, really nice (short turn around too). I don't think you'll be disappointed in them at all.
  19. I've heard of guys rechambering Mosins for 45/70, but I think I like your idea better. I'm interested in seeing your finished product!
  20. You're going to be very happy with the products from Rock Solid! They do beautifull work, and the turn-around time is quick. Regarding your firing pin question, why are you looking for an after-market piece? The existing pin can easily be adjusted if it is striking too deep, or too shallow by utilizing a standard Mosin multi-tool that comes with nearly every rifle commercially sold (it's the tear drop shaped tool with a screw driver blade on the narrow end, and some notches in the side). The largest notch is used to rotate the firing pin in the cocking piece with the bolt head removed. The next two notches are for measuring the maximun and minimum range for firing pin protrusion from the bolt face. It's a pretty handy tool that allows you to perform an LTI on your bolt (if only they had found a way to include go, no-go gauges in the basic tool kit!) Post up some pictures as your project comes along. I have an M39 as well, and will be more than likely mounting a PE style scope on it sometime early next year. Good luck, and have fun with your project!
  21. Hello everyone. I'm new to this board and I thought I'd introduce myself with a thread showing-off my sporterized Mosin project. I started with a 1938 Tula 91/30 (non-counterbored, non-numbers matching), and added a Timney trigger, Rock Solid Industries bolt and scope mount, Warne Maxima rings and a Russian scope that was a trophy brought back from Mogadishu back in 1988. The scope has an illuminated reticle and is a fixed 7x. With hand-loads (.311 Speer Hot-Cor 180gr round-nosed soft-points over 47gr of H380, CCI #200 primers and PRVI brass) the rifle produces MOA groups (see 300 yard target in photo below). This has become one of my favorite rifles!
