  1. In case anyone else is looking for the 223 mauser project link, I couldn't find it here, but I did find it on another forum. http://www.mausercentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?search_id=1760936921&t=10813
  2. Try my 223 feeding technique and use a Ruger Mini-30 mag in the Mauser well.
  3. So now are you going to join up and be a double naught spy?
  4. I hope it goes away. I still have way too much stuff to do before winter.
  5. We have part of ours traced back to about that time as well from about that area. Nathaniel Holland IIRC was the name. Emmigrated from England for "religious reasons".
  6. If you have a C&R FFL, you can get some stuff from the importers such as Century, SOG, etc. Not as many or as cheap as they were a few years ago though. I have found several at pawn shops at reasonable prices. Occasionally one will show up as a trade in at the local sporting goods store also. On occasion you will find a deal at a gun show but in my experience, the deals there are few and far between. I have only found a couple there.
  7. Happy birthday Rod. Hope you have a great one.
  8. I have a yugo model 24 that fires just fine but won't close on a Go gauge.
  9. That was good. The last line was the best one.
  10. The bolt that matches the receiver will usually fit the best. Another bolt can be lapped to fit if neccessary. If you do so, you will probably need to get the receiver re-heat treated, as lapping can cut through the surface of the case hardening. I have never done so on any of mine and have had no issues, but your rifle may not work out as well. If you have the issued bolt for the gun, by all means, use that one. If you are starting with a pile of parts, it doesn't make much difference.
  11. A standard length Mauser bolt should fit in most any standard length Mauser receiver. You will need to address headspace issues when you rebarrel. A standard bolt will not work in an intermediate receiver like a M48. Some of the commercial actions may have some quirks as well. Sometimes you get lucky and your bolt will headspace correctly on the issue barrel, but don't count on it. Bolt welding/forging prices vary from $50 or less to way more than the service is really worth. Some cost depends on what you are using for a new handle. Tanglewood and Z1R both do nice work as I am sure do others. Tanglewood has done several for me. Experience in doing bolt handles is valuable. Using the correct heat sinks and heat control paste should prevent softening.
  12. The form of calcium you take makes a big difference. Most of the cheap stuff you get is calcium carbonate. Your body does not absorb enough of it to bother with. Calcium citrate (Citrical) or Microcrystaline Hydroxyapetite (MCHC) are better absorbed and better assimilated into your bones. Tums or Rolaids are NOT a good source of calcium. Also if you can find any of your vitamins or minerals in a chewable or liquid form, they are much better absorbed. Lots of the cheaper suppliments still have the name imprinted on the tablet when it comes out the other end. Doc
  13. We should let Korea and Iran each know that half of our military arsenal is aimed directly at them waiting for a twitch to occur. Let them sweat it out.
  14. Overall things are going OK. This week is utter chaos. The wife left for a week in Vancouver on Friday morning. Friday afternoon, our 6 year old sprained his ankle and broke a little chip off the end of his fibula. So, I have two dependents instead of one as well as the other two who can kinda fend for themselves. We'll see how many of us are still alive at the end of the week. Kiera is doing great. She is growing like a weed and getting really smiley now. Occasionally, she sleeps all night. This morning she only made it until 4am, but that's better than having to get up with her every three hours.
  15. I hope all you Dads out there have a great Father's Day today.
  16. Very nice. The bolt shroud modification looks like it turned out good. What model stock is that? I like the looks of it.
  17. You may need to trim some off the hook on the bolt stop to clear the scope mount. Or you can trade for a standard bolt stop.
  18. Stopped at Walmart today. The ammo shelf gets smaller every time I go there. But, I found a bunch of CCI Blazer brass 9mm for $9.47 a box. I got 4 boxes. It has been double that everywhere I've found it the past few months.
  19. I agree with you there. Most of my business comes from word of mouth referrals. I have had patients drive 200 miles to see me. Makes me feel good that they value my care that much. Insurance has gotten to be such a rip off for us that I dropped it. Most people have co-pays that are about what I charge for a treatment. I lost too much money to Blue Cross to continue dealing with them. Would you be willing to accept a 30+% pay cut to do more work? I decided I wasn't willing and could not afford to do that any longer.
  20. The vast majority of Chiropractors are honest and truly care for their patients. They have a lot more training in musculoskeletal injuries than most MDs and we have a great track record for getting people back to work fast. Most Chiropractors will work with your MD to get you the care you need. Tell your MD if you are seeing a Chiropractor and vise-versa so the care can be properly coordinated. Insurance is a PITA for all providers. We end up doing a lot of extra work fighting for payment that we don't get paid for. In my practice, I have switched to cash and do not deal with insurance companies any more. Took me 15 years to figure out how much of an un-neccessary headache it was. If a patient want their insurance billed, I give them a receipt to turn in and let them fight for the little bit they will get. Most have decided it isn't worth the hassle. Even if you are feeling good, be sure to have a Chiropractor check you out. Many of the problems are only masked by pain meds and never heal properly and will come back to haunt you later. Get it fixed now. My analogy on pain meds; If your oil light comes on in your car, do you cover the light, disconnect the bulb, or add oil? Pain is there for a reason. Your body is telling you it needs help.
  21. I have a Yugo model 24 that won't close on a go but fires just fine. As long as the round chambers without resistance, you should be just fine.
  22. There is some good information in this article. swine flu article
  23. We made it home! Kiera has been snugged on pretty steady since we got home. Brothers are pretty tickled with her. She just turned 3 weeks old friday.
  24. We made it back to Minnesota today. We are in Albert Lea tonight. We drove from Joplin, MO to the southern border of MN today. Long drive, but Kiera is a great traveler. We will get to the inlaws tomorrow and home Saturday. Long trip but well worth it.
