  1. I polish to 400 and then generally use scotchbrite to clean up my polish lines. I have also used a fine steel wire wheel to decent effect to prep for bluing on an older sporter restoration. I have polished up to a mirror finish, but honestly, outside Weatherby Rifles or S&W revolvers, I don't generally do that. I used to do a lot of bead blast and blue, but if I want that effect anymore, I use Cerakote finish.
