  1. Im not much of a maple guy, but seeing this out in New Hampshire last year i had to buy it. This is my first experience with this particular wood. Any advice on finishing this as to bring out the grain on the light part would be appreciated.
  2. Loctite professional. Rubbed on with gloved fingers. If you try it, be sure to use a respirator mask. It's fumes are highly toxic
  3. I didn't either but I like to think outside the box. I hardened it on the surface with cyanoacrylate
  4. Not sure what you mean by interesting but this iinterests me. It quartersawn sycamore that finished at 1lb 11½oz. I hope to have this rifle done before this fall
  5. It's chews up a whole day for a pair
  6. 25 years ago, I had to re-learn motor skills and started carving stocks by hand. It morphed into this obsession
  7. It's really not that difficult. Somewhat time consuming....yes. This is about ½ of what i turned this month
  8. Very simular to what Argentina did to the 7.65x53 when they reamed them to 30-06. Definitely more accurate when hand loaded & bumped up to 311-312 bullets. What is your magazine length on the jap?
  9. Oh, I hear you. I carved many by hand before acquiring the duplicator. It came from the Herters cusom shop auction
  10. Carving from scratch is more than lots of work. A love of the game is truly required. My 1956 duplicator still stays pretty active
  11. Do you still need a 93 extractor?
  12. The extractor collar is different. It's easier to narrow up the Springfield collar than to grind the slot. This will work for 93-95 but being much shorter runs interference with the guide rib on the 96.
  13. Jeremy just to clarify... To use a 1903 Springfield extractor, you have to alter it. A 1903 turk uses a 98 extractor. There's still plenty unused surplus Swede extractors out there that are higher quality than any of Spanish parts that are drop-in fit. I got these on eBay for $32 shipped on a pair
  14. Setting up a carve now. Longest I can dup is about 47 inches Unfortunately, no. The pattern and the blank need to rotate on centers

It was $45 , remember? The $5 extra should cover a beverage
  17. Cute little puppy. How old? Oh the memories of raising a pup!
  18. I got the $45 on the truck this morning
