  1. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/a-warning-to-all-gun-bloggers-and-forums-boston-marathon-explosions/ This explains why I see some of the most bizarre pro gun arguments in the comments sections of news stories. I had already suspected as much. It's also why I don't get my news from CNN. Objectivity is gone and there are never any news stories from sources with an opposing viewpoint. The Eloi are enthralled. Even people I know, very smart people too, are enamored with the dictator wannabe.
  2. It's good to keep it limited to members for viewing. If using a digital camera I would also remove any gps data.
  3. I saw it earlier on my Facebook page from one of my friends. Or maybe it was from having likes related to Star Trek actors. George Takei I believe. Gave me quite a laugh. Now I'm going to go listen to It Was a Very Good Year by William Shatner...
  4. Mouse and keyboard... http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=v9kTVZiJ3Uc&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dv9kTVZiJ3Uc
  5. $1200 to get a computer fixed? I'm having a lot of difficulty wrapping my mind around that number. I'd find someone else to check that pc for a hidden vnc server or similar if I was that friend. I have 2 IBM blade servers I need to get busy with when I get back home. I have some scsi hard drives I picked up off of newegg to put in them. The fun part is getting the bios to see them properly and having them jumpered correctly. Boxes of memory sticks, even a few matching sets of rambus and a Gateway server that uses it. Two 6 foot long shelves in the shop with AT and ATX cases, power supplies I need to open and replace bad capacitors in, LCD monitors I already rescued. Someday I'll get a Beowulf cluster together and running. I need to run network cable out to one detached garage and up the hill to the shop. Fedora is definitely a preferred Linux distro, hats off for choosing that one pardon the pun. Sometimes in real life I will make a request out loud like "Sudo give me a winning lottery ticket". I guess I need to get the password for super user right though. Pardon me for carrying on. Sort of making a list of things to do, to get me motivated to get this job done and get back home.
  6. I meant the slide and frame. Grips I can handle no pun intended. But ya got me Heh.
  7. No plastic there. Very nice. Looks like it's got a lot of history. I like that it's not to shiny. Gun show will be here at the Lane County Fairgrounds April 13. I'm hoping to be able to go just for the eye candy.
  8. Great deal for 350$. I was looking at that before I went to sleep, after enviously gazing upon that beauty. Congratulations.
  9. Now if they could only do a movie where Bruce Cambell could use that line. Would have been great in Jack of All Trades.
  10. Any other links to that video Karl? It's been removed already.
  11. Not sure how to link a video from Hulu. Night and Fog from the Criterion Collection is on there.
  12. Nope can't re up. I'd need 20 years to retire at 62
  13. Can I go to a VA hospital? My separation date was 31 August 1987. Actually thinking of re enlisting before I turn 62. I loathe the thought of being the platoon leader if I do basic again. I like the idea of making someone with a profile, trying to get out of fire guard, go explain it to the drill on CQ.
  14. I did like how Jesse had the audience be the judge near the end. Piers seemed a little miffed since he wanted to be the one declaring views opposite his own to be facile. That opening image is as powerful as the lone man blocking the tank in Tiananmen Square. I'd like both on a t shirt.
  15. Working on the doctor appointment. Don't smoke, haven't had coffee in over a week. I got two days of work done at the house here putting felt down between the subfloor. Today I moved stuff out of the living room to lay the felt down there and get the particle board done. I felt to drained to do anything after that but I'm still kicking. The advice is good and I thank you for it. I've been leery of going to a doctor mostly because I can't afford it and also because I don't like anyone touching me. I don't really want to go to a VA hospital. Just tired and glad I know it's not my fault.
  16. What I have to add now is right inline with this topic. Back home the city just replaced valves and water meters due to high lead content. I've been experiencing this unexplained decline in health. Feet numbness, burning pain in toes, soreness in my joints, numb lips, blurry vision, mood swings, bloating and bladder issues. Away from home it starts to clear up a bit but not much. My legs itch all the time. Last year almost a year ago I lost someone very close to me and I've been bawling every day with the most unimaginable grief since. When I post stuff it takes me awhile. I reread and edit a lot. I joined this board last fall, started posts numerous times and never had my thoughts together enough to post anything until a few weeks ago. My headaches have gone down quite a bit while I've been in Eugene and so has the constant ringing in my ears. I still go to the bathroom about every 45 minutes. I'm lucky if I get the amount that would fill a shot glass out most of the time. I should be angry now, but I've been blaming myself for a lot of my problems, I've been grasping at an anchor to bring me back from the brink of ranting anger. Granted everyone probably proofreads their posts. Until recently I haven't had the clarity of thought to start and finish a post. I also don't drink much alcohol. My recent episode was also my last as I don't like losing control. I've been moving faster each day doing this house repair/remodel and now I just want to get it done so I can see a doctor. At 47 years old there could be other issues causing my health problems but I thought lead in water was the least of my worries. Now I understand why I go to bed each night hoping it's the last. Some of this may have been TMI. Soon I'll be home using more than my iPad and I can post a picture of my great grandfather in his Kazak uniform. Forget the Valium. I'd like a bottle of laudanum right now.
  17. I appreciate it a lot more now. The whole letter seemed so incongruous and bizarre that I even thought it was a joke at first. It is good.
  18. We can see the intelligence in this unknown individuals letter to the editor as they go off topic talking about gun control and unnatural birth. Maybe their bitterness stems from their own history of being a butthole baby and the fact that that intelligence in their case is actually the opposite. Their ignorance becomes more apparent as we can also see two sentences started with the word "but" made worse with "but because". I would want my name withheld also if I had to admit I was unable to look up statistics for crime rates in a small town in North Cackalacky. http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Morehead-City-North-Carolina.html
  19. I've noticed that when others get offended by something you're supposed to be apologetic, when they offend you they accuse you of being overly sensitive and try to put you down for getting all "butthurt"
  20. The videos on the page may explain the gun control crowd cowardice. It may explain why they make non sequitur arguments and ad hominem attacks. http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2011/08/22/how-quickly-we-forget-biden-yucks-it-up-with-mongolian-prime-minister/
  21. http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/01/veteran-stands-up-for-2nd-amendment-at-chicago-anti-gun-forum/ We're Charlie seven two We're here to learn from you So put us to the test You'll see we are the best Who's real among us and who is an agent provacateur? I for one look forward to having my nephew come for a visit so he can shoot some rifles this summer. He's lost in world of warshit and I want to open his eyes. I can't say that I really want to see him join the service but if the worst he has to suffer is getting his butthole looked at by a doctor during the enlistment process and getting dropped for push ups because someone else marched out of step it's still good. I love the kid but he's got to get away from his mother/my sister and have someone else yell at him instead of her inappropriate shrieking like a banshee.
  22. Years ago a vietnam vet by the name of Mike Libby asked me to pass word to another vet if I ever saw him to say "hi from the Lumberjack to the Bear". I wish this could have happened, but as we all know Karl Vonnegut's concept of Bokoninism doesn't pan out all the time. Bokoninism is the Idea the you will run into someone you know, or someone else knew at the most odd moment. I wish I could say I met the Bear. Mike told me of a time when he was in Vietnam, how they were "down range" and and they were using a slingshot to fire glass marbles at people passing by on the street below. He also showed me pictures as they were flying in. This generated a lot of envy on the part of another person I knew, by the name of Dee Dee Hurlburt who indicated I was shown more than she had ever been shown. It's been awhile since I've seen Mike but I really should look him up while I am in Eugene.
  23. Nuff' said in the words of the Immortal Stan Lee. I looked months ago and felt stifled.
  24. I paid little attention to the details at the time. My dad and I were watching the vote on c span at the time and I was amazed that I could buy an AR. Apparently although I am leery of claiming firsthand knowledge they are stamped .223 on the receiver, the barrel has a very noticeable stamping of 5.56 nato on the barrel. I did mention in previous posts that my dad was a WWII vet, he did mention at the time we were watching this vote that I should join the NRA. I did. Life member, proud of it, and I do need to make a donation. Most young fellers out there are probably as clueless as I was that they could buy such a magnificent firearm. Spread the word. I have no children, so my nephew may be my only hope to share our forefathers vision for the future.
  25. I myself was wondering if the battle plan was drawn out on the cigar wrappers.
