  1. I guess this is how things start. I bought a new pre-chambered 6.5x57 mauser barrel,so now I need an action. 30.06/270 commerical FNs are not too hard to find, but will a 57 case work through the feed rails? Or did you have to modify a 57 for 30-06? I have a 264FN ,so a lite 6.5 would be a match. The 6.5-06 covers the same ground as the 264,so rechambering 06 doesn't make much sense even to me.Besides when I read about the 6.5x57,I was interested.
  2. I have a M-'17 sporter that was rechambered to 308Norma ,and a P-14 sporter, ears and all. While the bolt face has to be opened up on the 17,the magazine work is much easier. The bottom metal is slightly different in the front corners so switching boxs isn't as easy as they make out. I didn't have any trouble making mine feed.
  3. I have Timmeys on my P-14 and P-17 and a Bold on my FN.Right now, the Bold is crisper and heavier. However,a point someone made at the old site, the Timmey safety level is closer to the tang.I wouldn't know, don't have one on a Mauser. But I know I had a bi*** of a time bending the lever on the Bold in closer.
  4. If you slot the hinge hole, you can use the orginal catch.
  5. If you slot the washer,it doesn't fall out as often.
