Winding Down From Soju Substitute

Years ago a vietnam vet by the name of Mike Libby asked me to pass word to another vet if I ever saw him to say "hi from the Lumberjack to the Bear". I wish this could have happened, but as we all know Karl Vonnegut's concept of Bokoninism doesn't pan out all the time. Bokoninism is the Idea the you will run into someone you know, or someone else knew at the most odd moment. I wish I could say I met the Bear.

Mike told me of a time when he was in Vietnam, how they were "down range" and and they were using a slingshot to fire glass marbles at people passing by on the street below. He also showed me pictures as they were flying in. This generated a lot of envy on the part of another person I knew, by the name of Dee Dee Hurlburt who indicated I was shown more than she had ever been shown.

It's been awhile since I've seen Mike but I really should look him up while I am in Eugene.
