Parker Hale Receiver.

I need another project like I need a hole in the head but...I have a chance to buy a stripped 98 commercial Parker Hale receiver from a friend. It;s drilled and tapped so there wouldn't be too much to do to get it ready for a barrel.

Question...Has anyone built one of these receivers? I think they were fore sale at Numerich a while back. This is not the casting or 80% finished receiver but appears to be a receiver that was stripped after being built.

Thanks for all your info. C-

I think the PH's were Santa Barbaras. Should take standard 98 stuff fine.

Wonder if these receivers had anything to do with all of the "Cadet" 7.62X51 target barrels that flooded the market. Did they just strip the rifles down to components?

There was a 98 PH called the Midland; took a Springfield '03 bolt, if I remember correctly.

IIRC, the Midlands take an '03 bolt and ejector/bolt stop assembly. Also, some the later PH receivers that took 98 bolts and parts lack the guide rib cutout in the rear receiver bridge. So, you have to find a bolt that has that part removed. I've seen them on Gunbroker.

However, if this is the type you are good to go. It appears to be totally '98 parts approved. :-)
