I used to have a model 1889 Seth Thomas mantle clock that still operated losing about 2-3 minutes per month. Lost it in a burglary. I don't know if it was done for religious reasons or for additional weight. Somebody soldered a St Christopher's medal to the pendulum. AzRednek Posted December 26, 2013 Report Share Posted December 26, 2013 My high school freshman science teacher was a bombardier during WW2 and participated in the Dresden bombing. He claimed the reason for the vicious bombing was revenge. The Allies had started a campaign of dropping paper leaflets on a city prior to a bombing advising the populace to evacuate the city and confuse German air defenses. An air crew dropping the leaflets was hit with flak and the crew bailed. A few of the soldiers that parachuted into the city were gathered, tied up to a pole and burned alive with the leaflets.
