Many Army Nam vets seemed to have little or zero respect for their officers. WW2 and Korean Vets often spoke highly of their officers especially those that they said were pounding the ground and pulling triggers alongside them. Dont know if it's true or another embellished war story. My trainer at the Post Office received a battlefield commission. The promotion I do know was true after having access to his OPF in a grievance procedure. He claimed he replaced a 2nd Lt that was fragged in his tent.
