Horsefly
The short post is the bottom of a power pole that was changed out. It was near a stock tank where hogs would roll in mud then rub against pole. They left it the length it is. I cut it off at ground. Plan on making a dude den table. I need a small wagon wheel rim and piece of expanded metal.
AzRednek
Great pics Fly. Growing up in the 50 and 60’s as a kid. Coming across Horny Toads or Desert Tortoises was very common. Now that I think about it. It’s been close to 50 years since I’ve seen either one in the wild. The last Horny Toad I saw, I pried out of my Collie’s mouth in the mid 70’s. Horsefly
AZ, the turtle is a leather back soft shell turtle that’s about as rare around here as horny toads. This one crawled up creek bank and dug hole and layed eggs. Then back to creek. When I was a kid growing up fishing on Red River they were aggravating bait stealers. AzRednek
I don’t know why but Horny Toads die off quickly in captivity. Myself and numerous other kids would catch them, stick them into something like a shoe box and they would die within a day or two even if we put in plenty of bugs to eat and water.
