FC
I ran across this picture, and the stove looks like the one my farmer grandma used to cook breakfast, but it wasn't rusty. She used corncobs for fuel. She had a modern stove too, but for some reason she used this one for breakfast. Another world back then. Dr.Hess
Just don't see those around anymore. When I was sailing, I heard of a ship that had either a coal or oil fired stove in the galley. I heard that stewards and cooks would come onboard, look at it and leave immediately. I sailed on some real rustbuckets. Oldest was a jumbolized T2 Tanker build in 1945. FC
What kind of sailing were you doing?
Dr.Hess
I was a Radio Electronics Officer in the US Merchant Marine. I sailed on tankers, a bulk carrier, Roll on Roll off, container ships, and crane ships.

Similar stoves are still available but they are outrageously expensive. https://elmirastoveworks.com/fireview/
Dr.Hess
Yeah, seven large for a stove would be a bit much. They sure look nice, though.
FC
I guess they’re high due to how hard they are to move, and scarcity.
