Dr.Hess
That's a state park. Most of the windows look quite new, as well as some of the roofs. The guy making the video is quite "not technical." Looks at transformers and says maybe for "energy storage." A telephone switchboard "maybe a telegraph..."
FC
I was surprised he didn't identify the switchboard. I did see windows that were wavy, old glass.
Dr.Hess
Yes, I saw some like that too, and a lot of new ones. I have an antique French wall clock, about 250 years old. It has the old wavy glass on it. Still running. You have to hang it off center some, but I figger that if I was 250 years old, I'd be running a bit of center too. FC
I'm surprised it's running at that age. I read some on the history of glass. Up through the 50s manufacturers hadn't figured out how to get glass perfectly flat, without waves.
Dr.Hess
My aunt bought it in Europe probably in the late 40's or early 50's. She had it worked on at least once. I've had it for just under 40 years. It runs about 7 minutes a day slow. I'm not complaining. I wind and set it once a week, on Sundays like the clock in the radio room of the ships I sailed on. FC
I read that the buildings in Bodie are repaired to the point that they have to in order to keep the buildings up that are currently there.
