Inverter in the truck

Recommended Posts

We had a power outage, so I tried out the 1200 watt pure sine inverter in the truck. I managed to make coffee and heat frozen breakfast croissants, but it tripped the internal circuit breaker fairly often. Guess that’s why trucks have optional additional alternators.

Harbor Freight has some good sized ones that aren't too expensive.  You can add capacity to them by putting a fan on the heat sinc.  When we were without power for a week, I bought one and ran jumper cables off of one of the cars to it, then a power cord inside to power the fridge, etc.  After a while, start the car and recharge the battery.
