i was a little bored this morning so i decided to try making a butterknife bolt handle for my ms1903. i bought 2, 6" long 3/4" bolts for $3.00 & used a 4" angle grinder, bench grinder & a dremel tool for shaping.took about 2 1/2 hours to make & weld on. i still need to do a little more shaping before its done, but its close enough for now.

Nice work! Take your time with the finishing, files until the contours are right and then sandapaper to perfection. The finish is the second hardest part for me. The first hardest part is adding enough material so that I don't have gaps after filing.

Sporterizing is a very good cure for boredom. But be careful, you may never watch professional sports again.
