New M1a

Well, I finally broke down and did it. I talked myself into an M1A. I managed to get a NIB, unfired, CA legal M1A. Not real impressed with the muzzle break rather than a flash hider, but that is the breaks for living in CA. It came with 4 10-rd mags, sling, and about 800 rounds of Radway Green 7.62 ammo, the goood stuff, ugly black plastic stock. I managed to get it for $200 less than the price of just the rifle, but still pricey.

I went to the local gunshow yesterday, not expecting to find anything as is the norm here. A seller I talk to all the time had a USGI M14 stock for $40. I checked it out, and other than a couple of dents it was in good shape. I came back for it and a M14 combo tool($6.50), and the seller knocked $10 off when I got both together.

3 applications of CitriStripper, 1 good application of Oxalic acid wood bleach, 1 coat of BLO, and 0000 steel wool and I am a happy camper.
