2nd Ammedment Defined

For the most part a very good analysis. Anyone taking an honest approach to the second ammendment will arrive at similar conclusions.

 

It's clear that the people - individual citizens - have the right and some might argue duty to keep and bear arms.

 

I think the only issue that isn't entirely clear, and that isn't addressed by the mostly good essay, is what subset of weapons does the second ammendment allow Americans to keep and bear.

 

I think we had an interesting and productive discussion about this earlier. I think that as a group of gun owners we need to develop a reasonable position and stick to it together. I wish that the NRA did more in this area, but no one (including the Supreme Court) wants to deal with the difficult issues. But this is a cowardly avoidance of responsibility that can only lead to trouble.
